Her classes are boring. She gives pop quizzes too. She intentionally makes her tests difficult. There's a 12 page assignment. Despite that, she gives extra credit and her powerpoints are online. Attendance is mandatory. She is helpful and remembers you if you ask her questions. You're good taking a laptop to class than printing out notes.

Nice, funny older lady. She knows what she's talking about however I've never met a more unorganized professor. Be prepared for her altering the syllabus at least 2-3 times thru out the semester. With that being said, she really does want you to do well. Bonus: she will let you to reschedule a test date if you're too busy to take it.

THE CLASS WAS A CHALLENGE, BUT IT'S SOOO WORTH IT. SHE IS A VERY PATIENT AND KNOWLEDGE PERSON. I LOVE HOW SHE THINKS OUTSIDE OF TRADITIONAL POSITIVIST REALMS. SHE IS VERY CRITICAL--I LOVE THAT. CSULB NEEDS MORE RASS!

I really liked Prof. Rasmussen, she seemed like she had been through alot of life experiences, which I found awesome. But her study guides are super crazy and long, and assigns ALOT of reading. There are 2 exams, 1 research assignment, 2 short essays and a final 10 page paper. Yes it's alot of work, but she works hard at getting her students thru.

I had NO interest level in this class prior, and at first karen was very intimidating and i definately struggled witht he materal but Karen warmed up to me during office hours and gave me helpful advice that made me NOT give up. She helped me in more ways than 1.

Karen really knows what she's doing. I've had her twice now and I think she's brilliant. She'll do everything she can to help you and is one of the most patient people I know. Come to class, do the work and you'll be fine.

Class isn't too hard, just be sure to get into a GOOD group, since the class/your grade is based on your group projs. Tests are exactly like the study guide & there are no essays. She offers extra credit. She's a little crazy, but helpful when you get to know her! Be sure to talk to her & interact in class, it will help you later on.

I have always been a strugling student and i do agree at first she does look intimidating but she wants to help you out. For Rhetoric, MAKE SURE you get into a good group for all your projects, do extra credit, and tests are pretty difficult for me at least. PICK A GOOD,POPULAR social movement and you will be fine.

Karen is nice, sweet and is willing to help everyone. She gives extra credit which is good! There are a lot of group projects but if you engage well with your fellow group members and you do what she asks then it shouldn't be a problem. Test are a little hard but if you study you should be okay. Just keep in mind the structure of her tests.

I am a former student of Karen's. I just read her comments for fun and I am inspired to write to any student who does not realize her value to your education. Karen was the most memorable educator in my graduate program and Karen, if you are reading this, thank you for stimulating my critical mind and acknowledging my abilities.

Karen looks like she is intimidating, and she kinda is, but she is a great teacher. Act like a elementary kind and she will treat you that way. If you engage her and go to her office hours she will respond positively. She is my favorite teacher in college. She is quite a character who has been through a lot. Highly recommended!

Moody lady. It's hard to tell when she'll be nice and helpful. Im a senior and i haven't been spoken down to the way she spoke to me, since grade school. She really needs to consider retirement. Class can be interesting if she actually teaches.I worked hard in her class & got a B. She doesn't realize how she herself functions through whiteness.

What can I say about Karen other than that she is quite the character. I never read the text books b/c everything was based on pwrpt in class. The test were easy as long as you studied the pwrpt. Books "projecting the shadow" and some other one were useless. buy them get your xtra credit and return that 1st week. Tough grading on grp presentation

She should teach a graduate class. high expectations. would not recommend at all. assumes that you know everything about rhetorical analysis. extensive writing. passive aggessive in the form of emails. lose 2 points for each clas grades extremely harshly, most of the avg's on the papers were Ds and Fs. 5 papers, 2 exams (25 page study guides)

Pushes you to learn - She is very smart and if you are interested, you will learn a lot. Do not take if you have other hard classes - I consider myself lazy and I did OK. You will have to eventually write a 10 or so page paper but the assignments through-out the year lead up to it - and she's very helpful. Viewed a lot of movie clips.

Any undergrad is lucky to get into one of Karen's classes. While not one of the easiest professors at CSULB, her classes encourage you to critically think and look at concepts in new ways. In my opinion, any person who does not enjoy Karen's class is either lazy or has no appreciation/desire for a valuable education.
