I personally really liked Dr. Redmon. Yes he was strict. Yes he had a certain way he wanted outlines done but he was still great. As long as you did what you were told you passed the speeches. I passed the class with over a 100%. Give the man a chance and don't slack off and you'll be fine.

Man never again, he literally is the most complex teacher I've had. DO NOT TAKE HIS COURSE. I've gone to his office hours just for him to embarrass me more.. Don't bother emailing him, takes his time + his common responses "get notes from class mate". Honestly he's strict, rude, and stuck up.

Anyone who says that taking Kent's class prepares you for "real life" is being foolish. He seems to truly enjoy humiliating students, and marking them off for the most minor infractions. On top of this, he is completely full of himself. Just steer clear of this class.

Although I took his class years ago, after seeing the other reviews here I felt I had to post. Kent Redmon is an extremely strict and demanding teacher, there's no doubt about that. He's rough. But guess what kiddos, so is real life and the classes you will take later regardless of your major. he is very knowledgeable and you will learn, if you can

Not sure why this man is still employed as a professor here at Parkland. I dropped his course after seeing how often he'd completely humiliate other students. Not a good learning environment for anybody. Do not take his course; he's rude, arrogant, and makes you feel awful on a daily basis.

While I greatly appreciate a professional standard is expected from individual performance, building bridges to communicate that information to students is lacking. I find learning better suited to an organized structural format as opposed to his hop scotch method that confuses. Like most teachers, failing to produce results ends with mild success.

He's a really tough teacher, with extremely strict guidelines and expectations. While I appreciate it in the long run, I strongly advise AGAINST taking any of his classes. I passed with a great grade, but it almost wasn't worth it.

He rules his class like a dictator. There isn't much creative freedom. He will tell you exactly what he wants, which I guess is nice cause you know what you have to have but if you go out of the box forget it. I did get an A in the class but I really didn't learn much, except for his political views.

Professor Redmon has well thought out curriculum that builds on itself in a logical manner. He sets high standards for his students, has strict rules and guidelines. His effectiveness as a teacher is very poor because he does not know how to motivate his students.

I heard that this guy was a horrible teacher before the start of the semester. When I first got to his class, I thought it wasn't going to be too bad. Boy was I wrong. I literally dropped the class a week into the semester and picked up a different COM 103 class. Best decision of my life.

Doctor Redmon is a real teacher. He wants you to learn how the real world is which is not on your own terms. He has taught me so much about public speaking that I am astounded. He teaches fundamental skills that can be used in real life.

Avoid taking this man. This is coming from someone who had him and earned a A- minus in his course. Very arrogant and unhelpful. Doesn't care about humuliating you in front of the class. Its either his way nothing at all. Take another Speech 101/Com 103 instructor.

Took this class in an express summer session. Be ready to work. He will let you know how he feels about your work whether you like it or not. Not quite as apocalyptic as others have described, just do the work and get it over with.

I had Redmon for speech 101 and it really was not as bad as everyone says. He gives you 35 extra credit points for perfect attendance. The midterm and final exams were take home. I got C's on most of the speeches and finished with a high A. Yes, he's very particular, but if you do what he asks, the class is not difficult.

To start, Mr. Redmon humiliates any student no matter their race. He always sets due dates you MUST meet, but he will never return an assignment in a reasonable time frame. In my class it took him 3 weeks to let us finish an exam and if you weren't in class you were screwed.. I don't care for him because he doesn't follow his own b.s. rules.! FAIL!
