Her notes were pretty clear to follow. The only challenge was that it was a test only class. No homework or study guides to help retention. Makes it harder OR easier to get a passing grade. One simple mistake on the test could ruin your entire grade. It's one of those classes meant for independent learners. If she counted assignments that'd help.

She did have accent but not affect understanding at all(I'm an international students and I'm studying ESL class) U don't have to purchase the book or do any practice online. No hw no mandatory essay(but 3 for extra credit if u want) just listen carefully for the class and u will do great. I took micro last quarter and got an A.

She has heavy accent when she talk. She writes lecture on the board and her class has so many topics we talked and we ended up her lecture every day like that. Learn all by yourself. I m unlucky to have her when my first semester at De anza and i am a foreign students. So i ended at getting C

I took both micro and macro with her and she's an excellent teacher. Most people don't like the "show up, take notes, leave" style of her class but honestly I loved that. No leeches because everybody is on their own which is another reason I loved it. Go to class EVERY day, read the text, and you'll get an A.

I recommend for macro, but not micro. I like economics, but she made me hate it. 4 Tests= your grade. And the tests require that you do the study guides online, which she doesn't give any credits for. Take Monika Thomas. I had to retake the class, and Thomas is 10x better. Perera's class is like a prison. Everyone hates it.

I sucked at Econ in Hs and barely passed so i decided to lift my grade. I ended up getting an A in her class. Your grade is based off 4 25 point exams and 6 extra credit points. If you go to her class everyday, take good notes, ask questions, quiz yourself, read the book after every lecture, you'll get an A. That's what I did and I got an A.

Regret taking her. I'm taking three other classes and a part time job. I wish she had the grade based on more than just 4 exams. Her lectures are pretty good. I would not recommend if you have max credits and part time job... too much...

Perera is a good teacher... if you are planning on going into economics. Definitely NOT an easy A teacher. I planned on taking this class just to complete my GE requirements and ended up struggling in the class. Her tests are heavily concept based... even if you study the definitions all night, you still need to grasp the concept.

Whole grade is based on exams. You really have to do all the website study guides and read all of the notes to do well in class. Most don't like her lectures. But I do. She uses plenty of interesting examples. She has an accent, but you MUST make sure to remember everything. Midterms are multiple choice and like 25 questions.EverythingCounts!

Dr. Perera is an amazing Macro teacher. Her lectures are so easy to follow and she doesn't assign homework. Granted it's a lot of self-studying, but its college. If you attend class regularly and take sufficient notes you can easily ace this class. She bases your grade off of 4 exams, but don't worry she gives out extra credit.

Comment:
Dr. Perera's class is good for intro to econ. She knows her stuff, only drawback is the one office hour a week on Monday morning. However, she engages the students and asks provocative questions, rather than just reading off notes. Read the textbook, have some common sense, and study for the four scantron tests.. the A is yours.

She explains concepts really well and takes the time to explain further if you don't understand. However, her tests can be a bit tricky. The study guide isn't particularly helpful since her test questions aren't based off them. Study really well for her tests since 4 tests (25 points each) make up your entire grade.

she does have an accent, but her accent does not block students from understanding her. as long as you show up to class, take notes on all the material, and read the sections she tells you to read, you will do fine. just pay attention. she is really nice. would highly reccommend
