She assigns lots of half page paragraphs in response to all her reading assignment and requires rough drafts of them and if you don't turn one in you automatically fail the class so do ALL the homework. She also takes her time teaching each lesson so have patients with her.

I took her for Summer and she was just terrible!! Trust me do not take her she is soooo hard especially since it was a very fast semester. I suggest everyone take her during the long semester because you have soo much papers to write but not much time! Too much work!!

She wants her own style of essay. She requires a lot homeworks, readings, and separate essays. She is very strict and even wants her own essay conclusion format, which in my perception not the point of what an essay should really look like. Essays should be based on what the students want to say in their essay.

She cares about her students. You must want to learn in her class. She is not too difficult if you pay attention. She helps you develop stills that are required after the basic English classes. I have received A in every English class after this one. Take her class to improve your English skills.

Professor Tiernan is one of the few teacher who actually cares about their students. She invest so much time and energy to assure that her students succeed. She is extremely helpful and direct and amongst all, she is incredibly patient. She is passionate about her work and that makes class so much more interesting and enjoyable!

I really benefited from taking her class. Yes, it was tough but I pulled through. What I like about her class was that she started from the beginning, so that everyone can be on the same track. One more thing, if you decide to take the class during the winter or summer make sure you are going to devoted most of your time and be dedicated.Goodluck

tough teacher but shes too nice and sweet. Must do quizzes, journals, and essays and you'll do fine. Mostly based upon essays and sorta grades tough, but you get use to it and helps alot for ENG 120. If you want to learn i sugest you take Eng 191 with her.

SHe is a very intelligent and nice lady. I enjoyed our class discussions. Try not to miss any quizzes or assignments. She is not an easy grader ( Ph.d what did u expect) But if u work hard u will get an A. Learned a lot in that class.

Shes amazing. The semester started off slow, but when she realized that we werent enjoying ourselves, she fixed it so we all had fun while learning. Attendance is a MUST and quizzes are an EASY A if you read the material... common sense if anything. She extends papers, helps you when your stuck, and makes jokes in class and is very conversational.

Took her team-taught class with Simmonds, very easy. Tiernan is funny, nice, and there was very little homework for this class. Just a little bit of reading and group work. This class seemed a little silly at first, but then I realized that it was an easy "A" and a really laid-back class.
