Comment:

Norm Moline is one of the more difficult professors at Augie as he expects all students to achieve as he did at the University of Chicago. While this makes classes difficult, he cares for all students and wants everyone to be well prepared for time after Augie. The passions for East Asia are also greatly fascinating.

Comment:

Norm is a great professor. He is a good hearted man, with reasonable goals. He demands a lot from his students, but you learn a ton. It's not hard to do well if you just do your work. The people who struggled didn't put forth the effort necessary. Overall great professor.

Unless you need to take this class for a requirement DO NOT TAKE IT! The tests are impossible and he is terrible at explaining. Also there are required field trips which you are expected to be at no matter what.

His tests are impossible. He lectures the whole class and does not have PowerPoint slides so you have to write down what ever you think is important. Very difficult 100 level class. Avoid at all costs.

Despite the difficulty level of his class, Norm Moline is incredibly knowledgeable and interesting. Probably the class at Augustana in which I have learned the most, yet I still got a B+. If you're searching for knowledge, take the class. If you're looking for a 4.0, good luck. I'm not even a geog major, I'm el ed. I'll remember the info forever.

Norm is hard. No doubt. However, you LEARN in his classes and it will stay with you your entire life. I had him 25 years ago and can still call him with questions. He is an amazing teacher.

While I understand everyone else's comments. I still think think that Norm is great teacher. There is a difference between your grade and what you actually learned. I have learned so much in the two Norm classes I have taken. But, my grades do not show it. Norm Moline is awesomely insane. He is not out to give you bad grade Give him a chance

I took this class in high school for ap credit but got a three so I just retook it cause I loved it. Then I took his class and hated it. When I tried to talk to him about stuff on the test from the book he told me that is not what he is looking for. He expects you to know the exact answer he is looking forward instead of other suitable ideas.Hated
