Comment:
Very difficult class but you can get an A if you do all the work, pay attention in class, and study at least 4 days before a big test. I recorded all of her lectures, which helped me a lot bc she goes really fast in class. She's nice but she won't help you if you don't understand something. Her lectures are not bad and she posts them on BB.

Cells and heredity - she goes a bit too fast and expects you to know the material well. study hard and a good grade is doable for the class study the textbook for exams as well as her powerpoints

I don't know why people say she is not approachable. She is a really sweet lady and if you need help and ask her for it, she helps you. It was an easy lab and it was fun. It is true that most people dropped the class, but it was bc of the workload not bc of her. She gave us extra credit and she really wants her students to do well!

Please be careful with this professor. I had her for Cells and Heredity Lab during my freshman year and i HIGHLY regret it. She is in her department for her own personal research. NOT for the betterment of your personal education. People drop this class left and right and im extremely disappointed that I didnt. Take heed premed students. Take heed.

Dr. Dorn is a great teacher. Her tests can be difficult, but if you concentrate all of your readings with what is covered in class, you'll do fine on the tests. She really expects you to know the material. She gives extremely long study guides, only about a week before the exam. I would recommend a study group to divide up the material.

For Cell and Molec - The class wasn't that hard and Dr. Dorn is a good teacher. Some of her assignments are childish, but they are with an earnest desire on her part to have students grasp the info. The only real problem with the class was that the tests were extremely hard. Extremely. Otherwise the class covered exactly what it should - CMB.

Her lectures are pretty straight forward but then her exams are very tricky. You need to really read the book and grasp the information as a whole. Going to class is usually a waste of time, the activities she gives are not helpful.

The worst teacher I had at Loyola. It seems like she doesn't even care about students, she's just in it for the reasearch (which she talks about constantly). SHe routinely cancels office hours so that she can attend to personal business. I know several smart people who have changed majors because she made them feel too stupid.

By Far the WORST professor in the Biology Department at Loyola.... She doesn't teach AT ALL. Her failed attempts include awful 3rd grade games. These don't help on your tests that are taken from a TEST DATA BANK. If you want to do well and are FORCED to take her, then memorize the ENTIRE book, and IGNORE ANYTHING and EVERYTHING she says! AWFUL!

The class is not very hard, but she is just a **** of a teacher. Her voice is annoying, and a lot of the assignments that you have to do are really childish. But on the other hand if you just listen up in class do a bit of studying and you should do fine. Don't expect a lot from her, though.

She is the worst teacher I have ever had. She repeatedly taught lectures only to contradict them the next time we met. She would tell us at least 3 or 4 things that were incorrect from her previous lecture. This happened so often that it was impossible to trust her. She teaches misinformation.

Dorn is a nightmare. She acts sooo sweet, then gives a riduculously hard test that half the class fails. She has stupid alternative methods of teaching like reading plays on the cell cycle. Who fails a play?...a good amount of her students. Do not take her

I hate her. She can't teach its another reason why the biology dept. sucks! Thanks to her I'm majoring in chemistry. I'm not gonna stress myself out because of her. She makes you feel stupid and her test are hard.

Dr. Dorn seems innocent enough at first, but then turns out to be a total nightmare. She can't teach at all, and goes out of her way to make students feel stupid when they ask her to clarify.

Teaches one thing, tests one another. One more of the many reasons why Loyola's Biology department sucks.
