I only had Michelson for one gen-ed class but also took his Hobbit J-term. He's not necessarily dry, but he does expect you to know what's going on. If you read the book and have any semblance of knowledge about world history, it's not that bad. He's a really smart guy.

Most brilliant man I've ever met. Michelson knows what he's talking about, and has his facts strait. He will create historians out of kiddies who have just graduated high school. This man should write history text books for high schools and colleges...and he could do it off the top of his freakin' head.

Warning: Colloquium scholarship comes at a price. History majors and people who love essay writing will definitely appreciate this class, but as for the rest of us...You will have all-essay tests in his mainstream class - 3 to write in 55 mins, from about 7 possibilities he reveals ahead of time.
