Comment:

Philip is a very passionate physics professor. It's not hard to really get into the material and it does require regular attendance. I did not know that I had such a passion for the universe until I took his class and I did take more than one. I highly recommend his courses. He made sense of things for me in a way that improved my whole life.

Comment:

Worst experience with a subject that was of great interest. Class started off good until 1st test, so many bombed bec. of diff. that he assigned take home tests, but they were even harder!forced to take a "w" rather than get a low passing grade(and my gpa is 3.91) class was harder than any 200 level or honors classes i've taken.. would not rec.

Comment:

Carman is one of the best teachers at CNM. He explains the material very well, and he has such a great goofy sense of humor. He does give all of the homework the first day of class so we can get it done early. homework is graded for completeness, rather than accuracy. Tests are easy because he will tell you certain test questions during lecture. :)

Comment:

One of the worst teachers ever. This guy is very passive aggressive towards his students. He gets annoyed when no one answers his questions in class but the fact is he doesn't really teach us the answers, but that doesn't stop him from blaming it on us. I went into this class with a 4.0 and I got a c leaving the class.

Great Professor! He is very knowledgable and you can see his passion for Astronomy and Physics. He may be a little demanding and not an easy teacher at all, but if you want to learn he would be a great professor to have.

What a phenomenal job this guy does, you wouldn't believe it!!! I never had any particular interest in Astronomy but now I'm definitely taking Astronomy 1102. I've learned way more than I thought I would and you never get bored with him. He has a natural way of making things clear and interesting so that you stay focused and intrigued. Truly amazin

Phil is a GREAT professor! He was funny, gave great real-world examples of scientific principles, and knows the material very well. Take notes & you'll do good. Regular homework required, VERY easy final (in 1010 anyway, 1110 is harder). Loved his class & teaching style. His passion makes him adorable. Keep in mind that it's science not astrology.

Phil is an awesome teacher! Took him for 3 classes including LAB. If you have to take LAB only take it with him. ASTR2 was great even for the second time. He made me love Astronomy. Gives all homework on the first day so you can get it done early. Tests are easy. Notes are mandatory. Dont pass up this great class!

This man is an EXCELLENT teacher. Some material is dry (it IS science, after all!) but he does try to stick in jokes that sometimes are bad on purpose. Do your homework, read his review sheet for tests. I studied so hard for the final, but it was really easy. Some of it was just common sense. My favorite prof in 4 years!

The man teaches at a university level and prob has forever.They should put a disclaimer on this course telling you that the universe is science and if you want to learn mythology and constellations this is the WRONG class.The man talks in science jargon using beta,theta,delta and chemical chart lables.U need a translator just to write notes.

Made physics fun. Gave lots of examples and was easy to talk to. Very helpful when needed. Class was fairly easy however it is still physics so you must study the material. Definitely recommend for physics.

Fantastic teacher. Most students who take him for 1010 go on to keep him for 1110; it's not hard to see why. He has truly worked at perfecting his teaching. Doesn't use the book as a crutch (although you will be doing homework in it). Great explainer. Students have no problem keeping up with him at all. 10 stars!

He is so boring!!! A lot of the people in class fell asleep! But if you take good notes and do the homework you will pass the class. He doesn?t do good reviews at all but he gives you a review sheet so you have to do it yourself! But sometimes the material is really interesting and he sometimes gives funny jokes!
