The stats sequence was a struggle for me. I only passed because I had friends who took stats in HS. Extra credit quizzes during discussion sessions (you can ask your discussion leader for help), try your best to get 5/5 on them, it helps for exams. If you paid attention during class, he explains things very well, but he's monotonous.

10A is the same as high school stats but with different symbols/abbreviations. Takes some getting used to but is not that bad. I think Ramesh does a good job teaching. He gives "quizzes" during discussion (you work with your table and can ask TAs q's) that count for EC on tests. His tests are not difficult and he's very nice if you ever have q's.

Not hard content, but explained poorly. I did really well in the class but prepared to rewatch all the lectures (posted online) by urself and self teach. All the quizzes during discussion are EXTRA CREDIT for the exams. So its key that you prepare for those!! Took a lot of work but definitely doable to get an A or higher honestly.

Content isn't actually that difficult but he overcomplicates and does a poor job of explaining. He didn't offer any textbook, even after being asked, but his slides often had typos, even in formulas. He does seem to be self aware: TONS of EC and we could bring anything we wanted for notes on the exams. Learned more from TAs and study groups.

I'm sure he has good intentions, however he fails to teach stats well. There is no homework, no textbook, and the lectures have very few examples. He often goes through the slides too fast and does not leave any room for questions. There is a lot of extra credit available (i.e. there was approximately 30% available extra credit on this last exam).

Stats is not hard, so basically what he teach in class is not hard also. It is not hard to understand if you attend the lecture and do the quizzes in discussion class. The grade base on the midterms and final. And quizzes in the dis class are count as extra credit. Super easy class and super easy professor. Gonna take his class for 10B and C

Professor Srinivasan is an alright teacher but be prepared to do your learning outside of lectures. There are 8 homeworks, 4 quizzes and one final exam. He likes to reuse homework questions to test if students understand his material. Just understand the lectures and the homework really well and you will ace this class. Also, don't BUY the book.

I didn't have a good time in this class. I did well in stats before and loved it but I felt this class was over-complicating something that was actually straightforward. It was nice that he noticed that students were struggling so he curved tests and added EC, that helped a lot. His teaching style wasn't clear to me, so I had to teach myself :(

He knows what he's talking about, but to do well you need to ask for help. The TAs were usually more helpful than he was, and also finding people that you can work with helps a lot. 8 worksheets, including 1 midterm and 1 final, both worth more. Free textbook but didn't use it. Not a hard class, even as someone who's never really coded before

Professor Srinivasan is an overall great guy and really knows his stuff. However, the material in the Matlab class he teaches is what's difficult. There are no tests and the class is graded only on programming assignments. Expect to attend 90% of lectures and many office hours in order to get and A, especially if programming isn't your thing.

Good guy, but the power point slides are totally useless. Class is ambiguous. UC Irvine stats in general is very weak except for 10A.

He wants his students to do well & tries to be helpful. However, he's one of those teachers that can't grasp how to make something more understandable (I'm guessing b/c its so simple for him), & when you cant understand he seems a little confused, like "why not?" He talks REALLY fast so go to office hrs. Nice guy, hard classes.

Although the class is biology-based, the trouble is his exams. He lets his TAs do them and they turn out to be verbatim from the study guide. The final was verbatim from previous tests. I ended with 95% in the class and still got an A-. This is ridiculous since people who study for tests get the same score as the people who memorize answer choices.

His slides are full of mostly useless information and lectures are very dull/dry. Don't go to lecture, slides are online. HOWEVER there are 3 midterms, lowest one dropped. He makes study guides for each exam and pulls his questions verbatim from those. The final is the easiest final I have ever taken - just study your 3 midterms!!

This is the worst class I have taken at my 4 years at UCI. I am a PSYCH major, not a freakin bio major. All his slides are ridiculously long and have all sorts of bio terms you've never heard of before and he expects you to learn it. Why is he teaching a neurobiology class as a psych class??? This class is absolutely ridiculous.
