Really cool dude, and builds a connection with each student. The class was very interesting and constantly had me thinking and engaged, and I would definitely take it again if I could. The projects were easy and he was really good at giving feedback/advice, and rubrics were clear

Fantastic teacher and course. Dr. Gurney is very fair and understanding. He goes above and beyond to make sure all students have the chance to be successful. Email response time and availability outside of class was impeccable. Expectations are clear- do not skip class, complete all work, strive to LEARN, seek help when needed and you can get an A.

I hated Chemistry until I had his class. He is passionate and his corny dad jokes were v. funny. He also uses creative metaphors in order to explain otherwise confusing topics, which makes him a great teacher. I did very well by re-watching his explanation videos, asking engaging questions, and reaching out to him during his office hours.

Professor Gurney is quite homework heavy and expects a lot out of you, but his attitude and genuine interest in you drives you to do well. He is very accessible outside of class and has plenty of resources for you if you need them, but you should take advantage of all of them to succeed. He's very caring and you will learn a lot in this class.

Professor Gurney's exams are very hard, but you will learn a lot in the class. He is very accessible outside of class and he answers emails usually within the same hour! I would have appreciated if there was more time spent in class going over the tests.

Class time was mostly filling out discussion worksheets, giving me ample time to understand the material after completing the online lecture and worksheet. Tests were fair and there is plenty of extra credit to boost your grade. Prof. Gurney holds office hours regularly and is extremely approachable. Nice prof who made me like chem again

He's a pretty cool guy. From the moment I stepped into his class I knew I would love learning from him. His love of learning can be felt from the first second. He hands out ALOT of time consuming assignments but in the long run they don't compare to how much fun yes fun you have in his class.

Gurney loves to teach; he goes above and beyond to help his students. He was my writing professor and gave us a lot of writing tips. However I had many lengthy assignments & a 10 page final paper. There were many clarity issues with deadlines, but he is extremely flexible & adjusts the curriculum to what the students are interested in writing about

Gurney is very dedicated- almost too dedicated. Good Proff, cares a lot about students and his methods are solid. My biggest problem with him is his attitude at times. Makes you feel like Orgo is your whole world and constantly complains about how busy he is. Wish he would share less of his personality with us, but other than that I loved Orgo

Professor gurney is one of the best teachers and best people that I know. I was dreading taking organic chemistry with him but I have loved the class so much that I have changed my major to chem. His class is definitely a lot of outside work but it will pay off in the end. I have been truly honored to have him teach me.

Professor Gurney is thoughtful, very approachable, and kind-hearted. He is open to different viewpoints and is more than willing to listen to his students. I would recommend that you audit Orgo first before taking it for credit. That way, his exams are a lot easier. But, he does scale a lot, allowing for ample opportunities to achieve an A.

Professor Gurney is the best chem professor I have ever had. I hated chemistry in high school and he made me actually not hate it so much. His classes are definitely a lot of work, but if something is confusing, he is always there to help no matter what. His lectures are also very interesting and funny. Great class, definitely recommended! :)

Gurney is the best teacher I've had in my entire life. He is extremely deticated to his students and he really wants them to succeed. He is such a sweetheart and he's hilarious. I got a D in chem in high school and now I have a B average in his class. The class is really hard, but if you put in the time and effort you'll be fine.

Great Professor. Difficult material. Do the 3+ hrs of hw each night for understanding. See him/attend a study group if you don't understand a topic. Study at least a week if not more in advance for the exams. Don't think you can have a life and a job while taking this class.
