Comment:
He's a nice enough guy but knows nothing about how to run a class as an instructor. He talked a bit too much and went off topic a lot. He leaves no feedback. The worst part about his courses is that you have absolutely NO idea what grade you are standing at until the end of the semester, which by then is pretty much too late to make a difference.

Comment:
CRIM 455- 20% Participation. 30% Presentation, and a 50% 20 page paper. We did not use the textbook at all and each class was a discussion of a particular policing topic. He brings in lots of guest speakers and is an overall fair marker. No tests, but a negative: you dont know any of your marks until after classes are done.

Lectures are interesting. He is very laid back. Looks like a skinnier dr. Phil. Had a take home midterm. Final was much harder than expected, too many short answers, not enough time. TA (Sarah P.) was awesome!! Overall... he's ok.

Konarski's a laid-back easy going guy but he's just a little off track most of the time. He tells great anecdotes but doesn't really relate it to subject materials. He wasn't helpful in telling students what the final was on. Lectures useless, but his TA posted all the notes on webct. Just study the notes mostly.

Just a comment to everyone whining about the exams... they are only about memorization if you don't learn the material and understand it, just like any other class. Try reading your text and participating in the class discussions. Suck it up, you're not in high school anymore.

personal anecdotes are kinda funny to listen to, he has a sense of humor which is nice. the clarity wasnt always the best, and it was kind of boring at times.. but hey, you can't win em all. a nice guy overall, not the best notes either.. but hey.

Terrible prof, he doesn't know jack about teaching, and he is certainly doesn't have a clue on how to teach a subjective field like Criminology. Memorize word-for-word or fail.

just study his notes for the exams cuz they are straight from the text. it's more about memorization than anything. great stories told during lectures cuz he's a cop.

Lecture and texts are wastes of time and money. He just pulls blocks directly from the text for lecture slides and uses exactly that for the exams, so get notes off a friend and save money and time on a text you really need. Refuses to tape lectures

Good Prof with a good teaching style. He needs to learn how to right an exam that doesnt have vague open ended questions.

Really interesting prof because he has a personal story to back up everything we learn! Also very approachable, but the exams are kind of random, and more about memorization rather than understanding.
