Comment:
He is a very knowledgeable professor who will discuss the material with you at length as long as you keep asking questions. His tests are very challenging because there are often theoretical problems that were not covered explicitly by a homework question. Could definitely work on his social graces. He can become visibly upset for silly reasons.

Just finished the class couple weeks ago. Class avg on first exam was 50%, he barely curves. You know its tough when you leave the test and everyone is standing outside the room going "What was that"? 85% of grade for 266 was the first exam. Pretty hard teacher..

Great lecturer. His explainations are very clear and he likes to do in-class demonstrations which help solidify the material. However, his exams are very difficult. He often gives multiple choice, so don't expect partial credit. Even for write-in answers, almost no partial credit is given. But at the end of the semester, he gives a huge curve.

WAY easier than my earlier physics profs at GMU; his social graces are not always the best but it's clear that he's working on them. He will get nervous and upset if the class doesn't ask questions, so do it. Frequently.

he is gradually getting better as a teacher from reading the other comments, less bad attitude and not so much condescension. you may still not like it but i give him credit for trying. work very hard if u expect to do well

Ok ppl if u want a good grade in this class, this is the key: make sure u know all the concepts(even details)in each chapter pretty well. knowing just how to solve the hw problems won't do! Most of the stuff he talks about in class are in the book which u should worry about but don't worry about stuff that are not covered in the book. good luck!

I disagree with other comments. Yes his test were hard but then its Physics u are taking. He is an excellent teacher. Yes he is arrogant when answering questions but then he is not as boring as Dr. Lieb, who puts you to sleep. His teaching style and his emphasis on understanding the equations really helped with MCAT. 76% avg in 3 exams was an A!

I think he was a decent teacher. I understood everything he said although he did shock me when he called someone in the class stupid - outright! If your brain is math oriented you will understand him just fine. If it's not you're screwed!! You can't really avoid him unless you take Phys in the summer.

Boo. This class is misery. Study study study and the tests are problems never done in class or the book. Wants to see if you can "think through" things never covered. Totally ridiculous. He is condescending, blows through sections and won't slow down even when half the class doesn't understand. Get a tutor from day one. Recitation is worthless.

He doesn't present the material well and doesn't like questions. He can be very condescending. His exams are very conceptual and he doesn't help you learn how to think in the way that he tests. To do well, you need to learn on your own, not only the material but how to think conceptually about it. Neither he or the book are much help.

THIS CLASS IS HARD. He is a good teacher but he doesn't really explain everything in detail. The exams are practically impossible and you have to be in class everytime for the stupid PRS questions (you have to buy a $ 30 stupid remote thing to answer the questions). If you're going to take this class make sure to study hard and get a lot of help!

The class is hard and he is not the best prof. He expects people to have a very indepth understanding of physics. Be prepared to study everyday and work hard. This will probably be the hardest class you take at Mason

when the class avg is around 40 or 50, and half the class are med/pharm students and they get C's, D's and even F's... you know something is wrong! He asks very detailed questions on his exams and expects you to be on his level of understanding. Do yourself a favor and avoid him!

Excellent class. This course should be a graduation requirement for all GMU students since it might actually make a GMU degree worth something.
