Comment:
Class was very boring. Given, the content itself was pretty boring in itself, but the professor takes it to the limit. She goes off on tangents about her family all the time, which I think is okay, but she does it so often that it's annoying. Also her grading and tests structure are bad. Even though I got an A-, I want to say this professor blows.

I am not a Political Science major but this class was enjoyable for me. She knows most people take PS201 for bacc-core, but if you are willing to learn and participate she will respect, help, and engage with you. Her lectures, though long, don't feel tiring and are interesting; however, the online textbook is atrocious. That is the biggest flaw.

Great professor, and really nice. One time I was coughing in class because I was a bit ill, and she gave me a cough drop! Class wasn't too hard. She is very liberal politically.

I love Prof Solburg but she is NOT for everyone. You have to attend class and reading is mandatory. She uses the socratic method and if you aren't prepared this it will hurt you. I am not a PS major so it took me a bit to catch up just on the language the class used but you learn a ton and she is exceptionally helpful in office hours.

She clearly geared her class to ps majors. The way she runs class always makes you feel like youre about to be put on the spot and she can go on long tangents and easily get behind in lecture. Shell challenge you if youre a ps major but if youre not then shell just leave you in the dust

Solberg is a great lecturer. Expectations aren't clear. Grades rarely updated, the textbook was atrocious: I would've rather paid more for software that kept grades updated and was more interactive. Rarely got feedback if at all. Bottom line- I understand American Gov't, content is manageable, but class organization is rough to say the least.

First, I enjoyed this class because it was very fair and she seems very passionate about the topic. I hated the homework site, but it is still not that bad. Theres only one midterm which was multiple choice and offered extra credit. The final she made online which was super nice. I had this class at 8am, but still wanted to go.

Solberg's constitutional law class was the hardest class I've ever taken. I struggled a lot even as a poly sci major but I learned an incredible amount in ten weeks. She is a harsh grader and it was definitely somewhat of a blow to see such low grades on assignments I worked so hard on. Solberg is brilliant but not someone to mess around with.

VERY liberal professor. Talks to her students as if she is the only one who knows the information and does not respect her students. There is no productive political discussion with her. She is not accessible and her demeanor discourages questions. Not enjoyable and avoid her classes if possible.

Doctor Solberg is extremely passionate; but an extremely hard grader. Highly recommend, although you'll have to do ALL the readings and class participation is helpful.

Terrible professor. You can tell she doesnt really care about our political science class. Poorly written tests and bad homework site. Blows off emails sent to her and her attitude towards students is god awful when you ask her about questions regarding the homework and tests. Would not take again with her.

In my opinion, a bad professor. If you have the chance, take the other guy who teaches political science. She uses a terrible homework site, that she herself can't navigate. I got an A- in her class, and I still hated it. The lectures are boring, teacher goes off on tangents, and for poor grades, she blames students when her tests are written badly

Solberg provides interesting and partisan topics in a respectful and engaging way. I loved debating and participating in her class. She was very helpful when I talked with her in her office hours. SHE GIVES OUT SO MUCH EXTRA CREDIT. The reading part is optional if you just pay attention in class when it comes to homework quizzes.

She's a tough grader but I've learned so much in her class. Definitely don't take her for Bacc Core but if you're a PS major she's a great choice.

Solberg is a very passionate professor, although a slightly tough grader. If you study and do what is asked of you, you should easily get a B.

Professor Solberg is a good professor if you are a political science major or minor. I would not recommend taking her for Bacc Core as she is a very tough grader and her classes are reading and lecture heavy. If you do the work, go to class, and put in the effort you will be good. If you are looking for an easy A, she is not the professor for you.

Despite what some are saying. Dr. Solberg is great, she may be a difficult grader but she does genuinely care about the learning of her students. If you have to miss a test for any reason, make sure you have proof as to your reason for missing. It may seem harsh, but people lie to professors all the time so blame them for that.

Worst teacher ever. DO NOT take PS 201 with her if you are a reading based learner. All of her information you need to know for the tests are in the lectures and you must learn it through lecture. She was so boring I couldn't pay attention through the whole two hour lecture. I have never received below a B in college but somehow failed this class.

Solberg is not an easy grader, but if you actually read and show some effort then you'll be fine. She doesn't tolerate people screwing around in her classes and she wants you to learn. With that being said, she will help you succeed as long as you try.

Worst teacher I have ever had at Oregon State. Her gradings on Canvas make absolutely no sense at all and she will justify none of it. I got a 82% in the class and she pushed me down to a D+. DON'T TAKE A CLASS WITH RORIE SOLBERG
