Comment:

This class was like a standard high school class except for a longer period of time. A lot of time-consuming homework that was never turned in but gone over in class. You use the textbooks quite a bit for material both in and outside of class. The tests are easy if you keep up with the discussion done in class.

Kind of run like a high school class: daily homework from the book (that you don't turn in) an occasional test, and going over the answers in class. But she assigns way too much homework. Usually 3-5 pages from the textbook, which include various research and deep thinking answers, and 2 or 3 pages of grammar, plus she expects you to review online

Very excited about a not-very-exciting class. Relied on the book more than was necessary. Fun personality, not very interesting class. Had trouble staying awake sometimes.

Comment:

If you want an easy class, Rosemarie is not for you. She challenges you to learn (and love what you are learning) and she has tremendous knowledge about her subject matter. She's always willing to help. She makes class enjoyable and I found myself constantly writing down book titles to read per her lectures. Truly the best prof I've had at UI.

Comment:

This was hands-down one of the best professors I ever had. Her enthusiasm and excitement were contagious - you couldn't help but become engaged. Always willing to give extra help or information. Very into her subject areas, but still in touch with reality, unlike some professors. We organized a dinner for her at the end of the semester.

Comment:

She was one of the best professors I have had so far in my college career. She is very intuitive, and has a large base of knowledge. I took the class over winter break, and in those two weeks I learned more than I did the previous semester. She is very easy to understand, and is willing to help anybody. Excellent teacher, & course, one of the best!

Has in-depth knowledge on many subjects and, unlike some professors with huge egos, exudes a generous love of learning. Very helpful and understanding both in and out of class.

Superfluous assigned readings. Rambling, unorganized lecturing style. Class discussions went nowhere because of the amount of material and her interest in the sound of her own voice.

Comment:

An amazing professor. Captivating and enthusiastic. She gets so excited about the films, it's adorable and contagious. Even though she's seen the films dozens of times, she still jumps and crys. I loved this teacher. A bit unclear at times, going off on tangents, but she's so engaged and knowledgable, her tangents were forgiveable.

She reads off of her notes for lecture. It's like listening to a 9th graders first speach. She also speaks in French a lot, it's really annoying and pretentious. The class is easy and interesting but if you take it, make sure that Rosemary is not the professor. (They switch off every semester).
