Comment:
Sarah's class was incredibly unhelpful. She chose materials and mediums that are far too difficult for beginning artists, gave homework assignments that took up to 8 hours or more to complete, and always took the first full hour on "critiques". Incredibly passive aggressive, and refused to change the class to accomodate COVID 19. Very unhelpful.

Loved her so much! Great class for GE or if an Art Major. Amazing teacher and person in general. Understanding and gives great feedback. Just actually try and you'll pass. DON'T SLACK/NOT "EASY" A (comments below are making WAY too big a deal of her not allowing you to play music). After COVID-19, she did a good job hosting via online.

Best art professor at Sacramento State. Allows creativity to grow as skills grow throughout the semester. Very sweet and caring if you just talk to her. On top of things. Emails back within 24 hours. Is very flexible with any circumstances. The only thing is she doesn't allow music at all, but I would choose her over the other art professors.

Professor Flohr is such a great person. She really cares about her students and wants them to grow as artists. She can grade critically at times, but if you try your best, you can pass the class just fine. Just make sure to read her instructions for each assignment very carefully. If you need to take ART 20A, definitely take her!

Sarah gives some great feedback and she's very enthusiastic, but there's a lot of work outside of class and there are long group critiques. Although if you've taken enough art classes to get to 120, you know what you're in for

Honestly, Sarah is such a good professor. Every rule has a reason (Don't listen to music because it distracts from your personal expression and the overall classroom environment). She cares so much, shes super sweet, and if you take the time to get to know her, she can be super funny. Love her, great professor.

Sarah is great, She push you very hard. Advanced Drawing is heavy load ( you can do it !!!). Homework every day, 5 big drawing (about 6ft) and 100 (11x18) drawing. Use charcoal (1/2 class) and you can pick other material that you want to work for final project. No Music in class. Attendance is required ! You'll learn a lot from her.

Absolute rudest teacher I have ever had! Wont let the class listen to classical music. She said she doesn't paint for fun and the class isn't meant for therapy? What kind of artist is she? She sucks fun and happiness out of everything. I wish I could drop her class or switch teachers but all the other classes are full and I paid $200 in supplies :

I do appreciate her pushing me to do things I wouldn't normally do, but she doesn't always give clear instructions and is upset if you don't understand her vague expectations. She grades down if you don't do the assignment correctly. She is very strict on attendance, no music while drawing, and does not give any demonstrations, ever.

She is dismissive to most and has "pets," 2 per class. I wasn't one. She was my first painting teacher, bad experience. Since then I have learned that a real art teacher actually models techniques, materials, style, kind encouragement. I was diligent in her class, got an A. She gets nicer when it's time for students to fill out teacher evals.

This class is mostly about self growth and discovery. Nothing new is taught here, but she will make you strain for artistic ideas and how to approach them. Good or bad, she will work with either, and will push students to go beyond what they can already do. Five 6-foot and 100 18x24 projects. Demands a lot of your time.

This class was extremely demanding and time consuming. She obviously favored those with the 'gift of gab' over introverts whom she belittled on occasion. If class didn't understand her vague expectations, she got upset and took it personally. There was no music in class and it was a strict and uptight environment.

She is a horrible professor. The saying, "there are no bad students, only bad teachers," stands true. She will close doors on you, literally and figuratively. If you want to learn about art, save your money and YouTube art lessons; unless you don't care about art, in which, her class is an easy A.

This teacher will push you, but you will thank her for it. She wants to see you improve and is not afraid to say how she feels about your art and what she wants to see from you. You will have homework very night. Do not take this homework lightly! I highly recommend any one in the art field to take her class.

She was incredibly nice, laid back and fun. We goofed off all the time and she never cared. The more she likes you, the better grade she gives you regardless of your work. Remember though: art classes have ALOT of work assigned. Classes are 3 hours plus homework. Loved the class! Liked how she was honest about your work.

Sarah is an excellent teacher. She really pushes you to become a better artist. She gives realistic feedback. She doesn't just tell you everything is wonderful, but she gives credit for your abilities. Be prepared to really work. I never worked so hard in an art class before, but never learned so much either! Best art prof. on campus.
