Eager to reprimand and give a snarky reply via email. The 1st day I inquired about the textbook and his response was "use outlook." Funny, cause I was. His tone was even less professional the next time I asked a question. I guess this is ABET's means of maintaining the status quo and halting upward mobility. Systemic classism at its finest.

I found the subject matter itself to be challenging but interesting however, the online exams were fairly easy to take - most questions were multiple choice

Do not take as an online Summer class! Very hard tests where he has to curve so the average grade is a 70. Only 4 tests make up your entire grade. You can't skip questions and go back so you either have time left over or too much time. Tests are very hard compared to the material taught . Its interesting stuff but he tries to make it hard!

Better to take this course as a regular course versus an online course due to the hard subject matter - had to do both due to COVID. Dr. Clincy knows architecture, cares about us learning, and curves his grades to 70 after he goes back over online exams. Take DR. CLINCY if you want to learn architecture. Don't take if you want an easy course.

He usually makes the tests harder than they need to be. The highest grade on the final exam was an 82. Good luck reviewing for the tests, his lectures are useless unless you know the material beforehand and he skillfully nitpicks answers. It just doesn't seem like he wants his students to do well.

Comment:
Lecture slides are poorly developed and often dense while glossing over key explanations. No longer has a beginner's mindset, teaches topics like it's not brand new material. Very challenging tests that he provides no guidance or prep material for but the slides (the only prep material) are also very poor reference.

Dr. Clincy does not at all care for his students. His tests are really hard and he does curve them if the average is below a 70, but he is not here for you. His lectures do not at all reflect what is on the tests. He would not go over an online test that was graded incorrectly until I got the department involved. DO NOT TAKE CLINCY!

The most boring professor I've ever had the displeasure of listening to for 2 hours every week. Powerpoints barely cover test material, and most do badly on the tests.

Comment:
There was no contents in the course. We wont even know what topics advanced comp architecture has. Wastes so much time in number systems and on presentations which are not at all related to course. Always looking to cut points. Not at all understanding. Though he curves his grades, but he wont consider even if you score 89 % and would give B.

Unlike most of the CS department, Clincy takes his job seriously and expects his students to do the same. Take notes during lecture and do the questions in the book. Average test grades in the low 40 and 30s but those who actually studied easily got As and Bs after the curve. He respects your time and money taking his classes. A+ professor

I'm taking Dr. Clincy right now. I respect his dedication to students and he really knows architecture. His class is definitely hard, but hard because he wants us to be properly prepared. I honestly appreciate that. He curves tests so that the average is 75. Fun Professor, hard material. If you are interested in 3503 stuff, I recommend Clincy.

Course grade is based heavily on test grades, with a group project at the end. The tests are very difficult and the professor is a very picky grader (you will lose points for work he decides is incorrect, even if you got the correct answer). Tests are curved based on other student's scores. He is vague about what is on tests

Professor Clincy is a good teacher. I have had for two classes. Just put in the effort and you will be fine, he was always willing to help, he curves the exam grades, and the projects are fairly easy.

He is the hardest teacher one could ever take. Cut off points like crazy. For each hour of class I think I had to look up like 4 hours of information.

He finds ways to cut the points. He taught us very less. Never going to take this professor he taught us very basic topics of computer architecture.

This course advanced computer architecture (graduate level) was no where in contents. Sir takes good effort to teach and available. Very few classes and that too repeated the basic stuff. Too much tension for the grades, though curved and the projects were all very low level. Waste of time and energy. Basic undergrad course was so much better.

Clincy's tests are very detailed. His lectures alone will not be enough to gauge your understanding of the material, so you need to read and do practice problems. His projects at the end are very helpful, I only wish that he offered them earlier in the semester. The good news is that he generously curves his tests.

Like CS1301, although all CS1302 instructors pretty used the same book, lectures, labs, tests and final exam, his tests were easier and didn't require any coding. His grading also included some easy group projects and not just labs and tests. He curved one of our tests. Labs were easy too. My only complaint is, all tests should have been curved.

We had 4 weeks or more designated to group projects, instead of lectures. The majority of projects were based on javafx, which is obsolete. Lectures were copy pasted from the book. 25% of your grade is up to your team. Could have learned more reading the book, and saving the money. This class provided no value. Exams constructed unfairly.

Clincy is a great guy and very knowledgeable on the subject matter. Everyone seems to think this class is extremely hard and going to make your life miserable but I did not experience that at all and I am not even a CS major. You will have to spend your own time to figure out how to study as he does not give you homework. Grades on curve.
