Comment:

Prof. Ruitenberg is the easiest professor you will take. His exams are just like the practice problems you do for homework. Stay on top of the homework and you will do fine. My friends and I have to get 20% on the final to get an A in the class. Great structure to the grading that benefits students. TAKE HIM!

Comment:

Failed the first test. Materials was hard confusing didn't know what he was talking about until the review day. He gave a lot of extra credit to help us pass. Just make sure you go to review sessions and do extra credit and will pass with a B. I never worried about passing a Math class in my life before this course.

Comment:

I highly recommend this class for anyone trying to get their math credits out of the way. Wim is so funny and I loved how he made an effort to learn all 60+ of our names. Go to class, take a few notes, and attend the T.A.'s review sessions and you should get an A. Also, don't bother buying the textbook, I'm a diligent student and never needed it.

I was told that MATH 1300 was the easiest math course we offer that counted for the math core. Wim ruined it for me! He is so confusing and he's not clear on what he expects from us. Also his wording is so confusing. This is supposed to be an easy class but because of him it's not. Take the class but a different teacher!

Dr. Ruitenberg is a bit on the eccentric side. His lectures can be confusing and more often than not you aren't really sure what exactly he is deriving. The class is easy to do well in - his tests are amply explained by the TA, and the online homework contributes to your grade substantially. As long as you go to the quiz sections, you'll do fine.

Hard to tell if he is a good teacher or not. Did okay in the class but I don't feel like I had a deep understanding for the material. The class isn't a lot of work, and I had an awesome TA. You don't have to go to the lecture, but make sure you go to the quiz section.

Oh Wim... His class at 8 am was ROUGH. He takes forever to go through a problem, he tries to joke around but usually fails. Without the TAs and them teaching their quiz sections, I would have failed the class. If youre motivated and keep up with the hw and study for the tests, youll get an A.

well.. for one-he wears short-shorts. its kinda weird and distracting in a bad way! he has an accent and its very difficult to understand what he is saying. the notes i took make no sense. if you have a good TA you're in luck! the only reason i did well on anything was for going in to see the TA before HW and projects.

Ok so I LOVE Math... but Wimmy almost ruined my love for it. I mean, I still got an A, but unlike my teachers for calc 1 and 2, I dont remember as much for Calc 3. Wim is a horrible teacher, he stops teaching after the midterm break and he goes off on tangents. Dont have him at 8AM, and If you MUST have him, pray for a good TA. Godspeed

focuses on a lot of theory; TA usually clears up what you don't understand. gives TONS of extra credit. he's kind of funny in a weird sort of way. i didn't mind him. sit in the front row or you won't be able to see his writing.

Wim is not the best teacher, especially for Calc 3. I had an easy A for every math class i was in, but the way Wim and the TA taught, I had to struggle for it. Avoid him at all costs, especially at 8AM. But if you have no choice... heres my advice. Learn Vectors FAST... learn 3d graphs FAST, and relearn all your algebra 2 techniques...

I enjoyed Wim quite a bit. One suggestion is to sit in the front of his class, this way you get the best of his teaching. Little cooky, but I enjoyed his class. Calc 3 is not too hard when you see it is similar to the previous calcs.

His class in really weird. He doesn't do much, and what he does do is very hard to understand. The tests are challenging, and his TA's do most of the teaching. Do the homework, and ask the TA's for help, and you'll get an A or a B easily.

Calc 3 is a hard subject to begin with, and this guy offers pretty much no help. He does these crazy proofs that don't help at all. You HAVE to attend quiz sections just so the TAs can spend an hour talking about what the hell this guy did yesterday. The tests are pretty hard but there was a generous curve at the end of the semester.

If you're interested in a complete blow off math credit, this is the class for you. Dr. R is a crazy old dutch dude who's been sniffing glue for the past 20 years. You learn how to play games in this class. You need to show up though for points. Easy tests. DONT YOU DARE BUY THE BOOK! you will be throwing your money away! Take this class, it rules.

Show up for the half point extra credit list. Basically useless. TA makes fun of him in class. Joke. And a bad joke at that. Book not nec. so don't even buy it. Bring pen and a laptop to class to have something to do. I am writing this in this class right now. Take it for an easy A and an easy 3 credits.
