This course requires a lot of reading and assignments. Just do the work and show up - you will get a decent grade. Ann is very welcoming and intelligent woman. This was my second communications course and thoroughly enjoyed it, don't get intimidated by the outspoken journalism students. You will not regret taking this course :)

She's calm, laid back, and soft spoken, but with amazing presence when she speaks, Ann is there to help you. Homework's easy, but a little redundant. Class requires subscribing to Globe and Mail. Only two major writing assignments, that have the first parts read out in class. As long as you discuss, do homework, and show up to class, you're good.

Her assignments are easy and simple. She gives clear lectures that are mostly based on class discussion, watching videos (especially the Daily Show with Jon Stewert). You can eat in her class too. She also shows a genuine interest in students ideas and is willing to help. There was no textbook, but a Globe and Mail subscription was required.

Super easy class. One midterm essay, one final essay, have to do reading summaries for each week, and have to do newspaper clippings of a story from the globe and mail everyday and write 50 words about what your thoughts on the topic. Makes you check off on a sheet if you participated in class or not. Have to read out midterm essay and final essay.

Friendly person who has a lot of practical experience in the field of Journalism. Very blunt and has a good sense of humour. Not afraid to get down to students' level when teaching. Very schitzophrenic marker, not much consistency at all.
