Had him for poetry. Very passionate and knowledgeable, but dominated classtime with lectures when they could have been open to discussion. Not easy or fun to participate. He is so passionate about natural history that he teaches about that instead of poetry. Interesting but not on topic... disappointing

Nice guy, knew a lot about the topic, but he did not teach this class, he had the students do it for him. Everyone had to lead the class twice during the semester while Prof Nichols (the expert in darwin & romantic natural history) sat down and once in a while clarified certain points.

Professor Nichols is an excellent English teacher. He really makes what he's teaching come alive. He makes the classics and poetry relevant to our lives and his is just interesting to listen to.

Really solid professor. Pretty much the man when it comes to class discussions. If you can get into one of his low lvl classes go for it. It's not all that hard and he is great at putting things in a way that students can understand.

One time he asked everyone to define what "augur" means. I knew, didn't care to raise my hand (once bitten, twice shy) and he railed at us. Screw that. Just tell the class to look up the definitions, save your stories for the bar. Blowhard.
