Comment:

Dr. Britton was a fine professor that cares about students. Do NOT take her as an online format (in case of future covid restrictions again) she is disorganized online and can barely work canvas, making it extremely difficult to navigate the course in an online format. Otherwise, she is a good alternative to the other professor for 381.

Comment:

If you need flexibility this is not for you. It's her way in math a lot which makes things more complicated if you've learned it different ways in the past. Wouldn't recommend unless you already have an affinity for math.

I would definitely not take it again! Each class she assigns almost 50 problems for you to do from the textbook, but she only will grade 5/30, which is completely whack!! You're basically teaching yourself during the entire semester. Myself and some other classmates were always frustrated because she would never answer our questions.

She is knowledgable and the projects are practical. The chapters are a lot to read but have valuable information. She knows what she wants and gives great directions.

Comment:

She picks 5/30 questions to grade for homework. Tests are about 10 questions at 100 points total, questions have different worth. If you can't finish in the hour you can't at all. On the 1st test she said I knew the content but let my time run out on 1 of them, I got that and all the ones I finished right. I get the math but this spikes my anxiety.

Dr. Britton is extremely knowledgable and is a great professor. Yes she expects you to read the chapters on your own. She does not go over every single thing in class, but she is preparing you for your future teaching career. The content itself is not horrible. If you apply yourself and go to class, you will succeed.

Probably the worst professor I have ever had. Grading scale is wack (you do hundreds of problems throughout the semester for only 50 points), she does not explain things to help you, tests are worth so many points, she relies on the book and yourself to teach the class, and she makes math harder to understand than before this class.

Luckily I am good at math, but she is not the best at explaining for those who do not understand so many people struggle. You are expected to read outside of class & she goes over a few things in class. Lots of homework that you check w/ a partner and ask questions is needed by questions are usually answered by other students who think they got it.

Her lectures are very long and boring, but the material was not too hard. There is homework due every class period, most of the time, and sometimes they can be rather long. She has shown me new ways to think out problems that I have not thought of before.

By far one of the worst professors I have ever had. Take this with anyone else, especially if you are an education major! Assigns lengthy homework but only goes over 1 or 2 problems. Test are only 8 questions and point heavy. She also will mark you down if you do a problem a different way than her, even if it's right.

Confusing lectures, tons of homework with little or no time spent going over them in class, disorganized way of presentation, she doesn't have the answers to homework so she "figures it out" in class which is also confusing and time-consuming. She struggles to understand why anyone would have trouble in her class.

Explains things in a confusing way. The homework is hard and takes a long time. She doesn't give answers to the homework either, so you don't know if you did it correctly or got the concept. This was a really frustrating experience...

Comment:

Introduces a new math concept using one basic example. Homework is always harder than the example and takes 3-4 hours to complete. She spent 30-40 minutes talking about one problem, neglecting to cover many other problems that later showed up on the test. If you are a wiz at math you will be fine, but if not you will definitely struggle!

If you are not strong in math do not take her! She thinks that everyone is great in math and understands it. She is a nice person but not when it comes to explaining math to students who don't understand. Her test are hard and the way she grades them can be unclear to why she took a point off a problem.

She was the worst math teacher I have ever had, she doesn't give clear notes and you will learn that your book becomes your best friend because she can't teach. If you solve a problem a different way then her, she will mark you wrong for not solving it like her. If you have to take this class, choose another professor if you want to actually learn.

Please Do not take this Professor ! She uses VERY OLD techniques that'd do not make sense. When you ask for help she says "well I understand it why don't you ? " her lectures are very boring you will sit there on your phone. If you are going into education do not take this class with her !!!!

Comment:

I had Dr. Britton for math 105, and she was awesome. She is super enthusiastic and you can clearly tell that she loves math. She is very friendly, and helpful. She answers any questions that you have at the beginning of each class period, whether it takes 5 minutes or 45 minutes. I've never enjoyed a math class nearly as much as I did this course.

The homework is not graded but you must do it or you will not pass the class. Lectures are boring and feel never ending. If you can take this class with another professor, I would recommend doing so.
