Professor Davis is a sweetheart. He deeply cares about you and your work. I wished sometimes he would get more into the form and craft of poetry, but he gives great feedback on your work that has helped me become a better poet/writer.

Professor Davis was incredible. I took all three of his poetry courses. He cares so much about you personally and the literature you read together. The course itself is very easy. As long as you show up to class with your poems and give feedback to others, you'll be golden.

Mr. Davis is an amazing teacher. I am not a poetry fan, but I really enjoyed this class. This class was a workshop, so we went around the room critiquing the different poems, which was helpful in my own poetry.

He is an amazing professor who really cares about poetry and his students. I thought this class was going to be more about fiction writing and was disappointed when it was a poetry class, but Davis made it interesting and appealing - he made me start to love poetry and he always encouraged people to step out of their comfort zone. Easy class, too.

All we had to do was write four poems, workshop each one with the whole class, then revise them in the end. Easiest A I've ever received. I hate poetry, but he's really great about giving feedback and not being hard anyway. He's really encouraging and genuinely loves poetry.

He is a really great professor. You can tell that he is really dedicated to poetry and his students doing well. He encourages class discussion, so don't be afraid to talk. He doesn't judge and respects all comments, no matter how ridiculous they may be. Open minded, easy-going, highly recommended if you want a good poetry experience.

I would recommend Professor Davis to anyone. He's funny and light-hearted, which makes the class enjoyable. Even if you've never written a poem, he'll help you as much as he can without ever making you feel like an idiot. It's an upper-level course but class is fairly easily- all you have to do is show up and give a decent effort.

If you are looking for an easy A, this is not the class for you. Dr. Davis is a great teacher and class is easy, but the papers can be difficult to write and he grades kind of hard. He is always willing to help if you need it though.

Professor Davis is a great professor. The class itself is easy, but he grades toughly. He LOVES poetry, so he will incorporate it as much as possible. Like others have said, he isn't like some of the other English professors that make you feel like an idiot. Good professor overall!

Prof. Davis is a great teacher! This is an entry level class so don't expect it to be taught like a PhD level class. If you're new to poetry this is the teacher to get. He is very nice, very funny, and won't bust your chops like other English teachers. He is very understanding of new poets & understands you can't write like Shakespeare. He's great!

If you want to actually learn about poetry avoid taking this class. He cannot teach you a thing; however, if you show up you'll most likely get an A since it's a very easy class. You just have to put up with his nonsense.

Papers are 6 pages and one is with a group(6 pages per person) Turned out to be like a 30 page paper dont stess it tho bc he just have us all A's! Attendance was mandatory but he stops taking it half way thru!

Davis is a pretty strange guy but often funny and always agreeable. Two 6-page essays (one with group) and two in-class "quizzes" (free response to poetry, pretty much). YOU DO NOT HAVE TO WRITE YOUR OWN POETRY (thank God)! Attendance semi-mandatory, cheap-ish books. Had NO interest in poetry before the class, now have a healthy respect for it.

Your poetry can suck but easy class (easy A) if you attend & 1/2 way participate. Attendance mandatory but you can miss 2 before grade goes down. Fun teacher. Don't know why anyone would rate him low. One of best in english dept. Expects you to buy book, although doesn't use in every class.
