Comment:

I really enjoyed this class. Bro. Hansen knows the Book of Mormon inside out and brings the Spirit when he teaches. Midterms are super long, but open-book, open-note. The final is strictly memorization. He doesn't post on learningsuite, so make sure you attend class. If you do all the assignments and study for the final you'll get an A for sure!

Comment:

Those unwilling or unable to memorize scriptures will struggle with his final, but if you put forth the effort, it will be a piece of cake. He really inspired me multiple times throughout the year, although sometimes he can be a little monotonous. I enjoyed it.

Comment:

Prof Hansen is an amazing musician. He knows what he is talking about and picks awesome music to play. The best conductor i have played under. He likes to have a lot of music for the concerts so PRACTICE! He is full of puns and humor. You are graded on attendence, and he knows if you haven't practiced or not :) Awesome class!

Comment:

I know that Prof. Hansen is a music guy, but he did a great job with my Book of Mormon class. He had the perfect balance of faith and fact on tests, and allowed his students to share their testimony to their own extent on homework. Reading was substantial, but not overbearing. Class was entertaining, especially if you enjoy his corny humor.

Awful as a BoM teacher. He makes you memorize what every chapter of the second half of the Book of Mormon is about, accompanied with a TON of scriptures. The only thing I learned in his class is to take religion classes from actual religion professors!

Nice guy, but if you're looking for a good BoM, get an actual Religion prof. He expects you to memorize random words from 46 different passages, but only actually tested on the first half of them. The second test was short answer, not enough time, and subjective. You never have to go to class to pass tests if you know BoM well. LOTS of busy work.

When I first started taking from him I thought he was pretty harsh, but now I've realized he just wants me to be the best I can. Pick his brain, he really knows everything about the bass (as long as it's classical). Very helpful, willing to do anything to help, really.

I think he's a great conductor and a really great guy. Granted, if you're a wind player like me, you won't get to choose to be in his orchestra, but for you strings considering doing an orchestra, he's a great guy and lots of fun.
