Comment:
Jim is a super nice teacher and genuinely cares about his students. Doesn't count attendance and is willing to extend deadlines. However, his teaching style isn't great and his lectures can be super confusing so I suggest you make friends and form study groups. Basically a nice teacher, but bad teaching.

Dr. Jim is a fantastic multicultural mathematics teacher. I went into this class scared of math, but he made me like it again. He has a great sense of humor and paired with his obvious deep amount of care for the class, he is a wonderful teacher. He really wants his students to succeed and believes in all of us. Im sad this class has ended!

Terrible. Don't take him - he doesn't care about his students and his teaching methods are not good.

Very lecture heavy and doesn't do group projects, which is fine if you're that type of person. Very receptive towards questions and wants kids to learn. Doesn't take attendance. Weekly homework assignments and (optional) practice problems. Homework is not assigned nightly. Overall, I would take this professor again.

If you like learning out of the book and other outside resources he is great, but lectures are confusing. 1) VERY condescending to those who ask questions in class 2) Test study guides give you false focus points for the real tests

Honestly, I wanted to like Humphreys as a professor but I can't. I had to withdraw from the class because he 1) didn't even put my class on his list of top 10 priorities because it's just a UCOR and not a higher level class 2) just says 'yes' when you ask him a question 3) doesn't explain well enough, and I could go on. Just don't take the class.

whenever you ask him for help he laughs at you and says that you should know. picks favorites. none of the course material is relevant to any other studies even if you're a math major and he makes it extremely difficult to learn. don't bother.

Professor Humphreys is great! He is very caring, but sometimes it seems like there is no point to what he is teaching until he gets further in the lecture and you realize that you should have been taking notes. Calculus 3 was a struggle for me, but definitely go to his office hours and he will make you work until you understand the problem

Had Humphreys for precalculus and calc 3, I think he would be great for any class, though. Failed precal in highschool and got an A with him. Coincidence? I think not. Take his class! He also cracks the silliest jokes. Very much a dad

Professor Humphreys is a fantastic human being. His Multicultural Mathematics class is so much fun and you can tell he loves teaching it. The dialogue between him and the students can be very funny but he still stays on topic. 10/10 would recommend.

Professor Humphreys was one of my favorite teachers this quarter. He is so funny and his class is a blast. Multicultural Mathematics is such an interesting class and so different from any other math class. Little homework, and you can tell he is so passionate about this class. Multicultural Mathematics is like his baby and he loves to teach it.

Take in consideration that I had a 7:45am class and I'm not a morning person. His lectures are fine, he sometimes mentions stories of his son when he was like 3-7 years old. When Humphrey's is feeling it, he'll give out a "spur of the moment" quiz at the end of class. Honestly skip the class after a test, he just goes over it, unless you need to.

I loved him! He was super kind and learned my name after the first day. Jim was a fantastic teacher who seemed to really care if you got the material. I participated a ton in that class and I think h really appreciated that!

Had him for a UCOR called Multicultural Mathematics. He was super funny, engaging, and have lots of examples. He encouraged discussion. Two midterms and various 5 point pop quizzes.

Super nice guy & fair grader but he is not very clear at all during his lectures. Also there are about 1-2 random quizzes each week based on what you learned in the last class. Those were not always easy. We have long homework assignments but he only picks a few questions to grade (always seem to be the hardest ones.)

In Professor Humphrey's class, he was horrible at answering questions and even worse at explaining things. He made me feel stupid when I asked questions, so it was hard for me to be engaged in the class when I knew that I couldn't get my questions answered. He's a nice guy, just horrible at explaining concepts and he's no different in office hours

Humphreys is the worst professor I've ever had. He's unclear, unorganized and has no patience for his students. If you ask him a question, he never answers you directly. If he asks the class a question, he expects everyone to know even though he hasn't taught us anything. Do yourself a favor and avoid taking any of his classes at all costs.

He's a hard teacher, grades pretty fair though. If you need the quizzes to bring your grade up, then you should probably go to the class everyday because for me quizzes were generally random. I missed a couple quizzes so that hurt my grade a little. He grades the Labs pretty tough as well. Homework is a page long and he gives hard exams, study hard
