AWFUL! Avoid him at all costs! Don't expect more than a C on tests unless you are naturally good at Microbiology.

His tests are very difficult. You should memorize all of the diagrams in the lecture notes. He doesn't give any extra credit. The lab final has questions that are not covered in lab. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS CLASS!

Dr. Gunderson doesn't read off the powerpoints, and gives you specific examples. Mono-toned, but if you can get passed that he constantly makes jokes in class. If you don't take notes or attend class you will do poorly. You have to really understand the material to pass the exams. No study guides, no free handouts. Lab is a cinch.

Good professor overall. He knows what he is talking about and tries to work in interesting, albeit not always important, side information. The lectures can get somewhat dull, but they are heavy in information that I found to be at least somewhat interesting. His tests are fair for the most part, and gave us a drop exam as well as an optional final.

One of the worst professors I've had in my three years of college. His lectures are boring and hard to pay attention to, mostly because he speaks in a very monotone voice. The labs are ok, only because it doesn't require him to lecture. Tests aren't impossible, but I would definitely look at the book too & not just rely on his lecture & powerpoints

I am not a note-taker, but if you take notes and study the PowerPoints, you will do okay. Make sure to study for lab final(it's worth a lot). He isn't bad as people claim, you have to put in the effort. One of the test is dropped, for an A, you have to be good at answering tricky multiple choice but yeah that's about it.

He is awful! Avoid at all costs! I came up after class to ask a question and he laughed at me asked what I thought my grade was and told me I was wasting my time and should drop the class! I study for days and hours and cant make above a C on anything lab included! His lab for this class is so very unorganized! At least he drops a test!

Lab is really fun but the class is totally different. It is very boring. Tests are difficult. I studied all the notes and could never get above a C on the tests.

He is awesome. Yes, he is dry, but he has humor if you pay attention, and when you get it, it's hilarious. Tests are fair and straight from notes. He drops your low test and does everything he can to make you not have to take the final. He always tried his best to clear up what wasn't understood. I thought he was wonderful. Why the bad rap? :(

I loved him in lab, but lecture was another story. It was hard for me to pay attention because of the tone of his voice. Therefore it was hard to make myself go to class. No matter how much I studied the powerpoints, I still could NEVER pass his tests. However, lab is pretty fun.

Dr. Gunderson will occasionally take a break from playing Dungeons and Dragons to come to class and talk in a monotone voice about microbiology. I recorded him in class and am selling the tapes as a sleep aid. If you take him, visualize him in a dungeon master costume and you can stay awake through lecture.

He has a very articulate way of speaking...but seems to bore himself...so that can make it hard to pay attention. But DO PAY ATTENTION, because even though he may stick to his powerpionts a lot, he will mention things he expects you to know. He has difficult tests, and does not award points easily. But lab can be pretty cool

His lectures are kind of boring. Know the notes very well and you should do okay on the test. They aren't impossible but they aren't easy. He drops the lowest test grade and if you have a 70 in the class, you don't have to take the final. Lab is interesting and fun. Lab is mandatory but lecture isn't.

Dr. Gunderson is a very capable and kind teacher. He may seem unapproachable, but I don't think that he enjoys social interactions that much. His lectures are clear if you pay attention. No one should be afraid of taking his classes. Overall, he is a great guy!

He concentrates in evolution. I asked him about it one time, and he said that there was no way that anyone who had any kind of interest in any science could believe in anything except evoltuion. Closed minded and hard.

Funny Nerdy Guy, likes to have other nerds to talk too. Big problem: he is too clever to teach and expects every one else to know as much as he does. i got lost easily in class; hard to take notes. know the notes inside out for the exams and you should do ok. i loved the lab its v interesting.
