I have taken so many hard classes and with other professors this class should have been an easy A for me. She is a really though grader, she takes points off of the simplest things, not just on mistakes that should be counted. Save your GPA and do not take it with her!

I recommend you do not take this class. There is a new paper that is needed to be done almost every week. The professor is such a tough grader, she cuts points for just about everything. Do yourself a favor and do not choose this class.

Save your GPA, this was by far the most unreasonable professor I have had during my time at Mason. What is said in the rubric, in class, and on assignment directions are three totally different things. Even following the rubric won't get you far because there's always something extra that she wants that isn't directly specified. VAGUE. AVOID.

Save your grade. I have taken 5 college level English classes and she was by far the most extremely harsh grader. She has her standards too high and refuses to help you. (Honestly says she won't help you or reviews assignments.) Also is overly sarcastic with a huge ego. When you ask a question her only response is "check the syllabus"

Please try to avoid her. She grades way too harsh and its very hard to get a good grade. Not an easy course you will be overload with POINTLESS ASSIGNMENTS every week. Seriously choose someone else!!!

Took her online class. I am an A student and I continuously kept getting Cs on major assignments. She just highlights things on the grading ruberic as her feedback as to why she gave you your poor grade. She doesnt correct you on anything, so you never improve. No extra credit. I am never doing online classes again.

In a college level English class, I would expect the professor to be able to utilize spell check. The syllabus (is its own horror), communications, and anything else she touches is riddled with spelling and grammatical errors and punctuation nightmares. Her feedback comes extremely late and is more of what I would expect of a master's level. AVOID

Be prepared to write a lot a papers and its going to require you to work extremely hard for an A because you will not get one by just turning in mediocre assignments. Sometimes her directions weren't clear which made completing assignments difficult. If you're good at writing papers than this class is for you otherwise I would not take this class.

She didn't graduate with a PHD in English but she grades papers like we are all majors of acadamia in a English specific major type class but its a class specific for all science and technology majors... not recommended because of the papers she assigns. A lot of requirements and she is so picky about the type of articles you reference.

Showed up every day. I listened and I don't feel like I learned a single new thing the entire semester. It's a shame that this course is required because it is a total waste of time and money when I could have taken another class that would have been more useful. Said my topic for paper was good, got a good peer review and got a 70% anyway. AVOID

Randomly selected an online business section and I'm glad that I chose Johnston. I found that the work she gave was very useful since they all had to with exploring your major and the types of opportunities available in the work force. She also provided audio feedback for your work. Overall, do the work and follow the rubrics and you'll get an A.

She's a grate teacher. She is so kind and caring. However her grading is not that easy. She's an understanding person. She always helps students if they ask her to. Do your work and ask questions and you will do fine.

She was terrible. She always had announcements on blackboard saying NEVER to email her. She grading was strict. Plus side is that there wasn't a lot of work.I worked pretty hard and only got a B.

Very strict grader.Instructions were unclear, when I asked for clarity she would refer me back to the instructions. Graded assignments super late. Busted my butt for an A but it was not easy. Ethics/Film critique paper was the most very hard to write without proper guidelines. Final paper was busy work. DEF DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Professor Johnston is really great and helpful. The class is really easy about fifty percent of your total course grade is pretty much gimmes as long as you do the work. The other half she is particular about when grading but gives clear and sensible reasons on why she's marking points off. Still pretty easy to get an A just do your part.

Strictest grader I've ever met. Don't expect to learn anything from this class. Annoying assignments with unrelated topics and very strict rules on finding sources for your research paper( >10 qualified sources). Very time consuming with 8 assignments, 2 useless group works when usually nobody was serious. In short, would definitely not recommend.

Take the multidisciplinary section with this teacher if you want an easier ENG 302 class and you don't care if the content is completely uninteresting. She also gives awesome feedback on papers via an mp3 download on blackboard. It's pretty cool.

Ms. Johnston is super hard but you will at least learn in her class. She is a super tough grader....2 points off for a misplaced dot for example!! Take this class if you want to learn but not if you want an A
