Took PLS 101 as my first online course at MSU with Dr. Ellickson and it was the best decision! Online assignments were always straight forward and accessible from the start of the semester. Simply study the powerpoints and readings from the book for the test and you'll be more than fine. Overall, very genuine professor and always giving updates!

Dr. Ellickson teaches a great class. I took the blended class and had no problem with it. There is a lot of reading and homework, but if you know what's on the study guides the tests aren't bad. He's willing to help with any questions and he welcomes comments in his class. It wasn't a bad class at all. I really enjoyed it. I would recommend him.

I took this class online had very little points. Only three tests worth 100 points each, twelve points for online book assignments, and the average of all of your book assignments out of fifty points. Online book assignments are very lengthy. The tests to me were very hard.

Took this because he had good reviews last semester. Boy was I WRONG. This has been the hardest class I have ever taken at Missouri State. An A or B is not easy to get. No extra credit given. As a gen-ed, you'd think it would be structed nicely and not only worth 400 points overall. Do not recommend.

Would never take this class again and do NOT recommend it for anyone who struggles in history. If you are not an history expert, this class is not for you. Exams are extremely hard and very vague. Lots of reading and the assignments are long.

DONT TAKE MARK ELLICKSON IF YOU DONT HAVE TO! His test are super hard and you can only do good if you purchase his book. There is a lot of homework that takes forever. Only 400 points in class so hard to raise your grade if you do bad on one test.

DO NOT TAKE PLS101 WITH ELLICKSON!! I thought that he would be a good teacher based on the ratings last semester, but I was WRONG. Tests are HARD. His average for the first exam is a 64/100 every semester, which should say something. Online Soomoo chapters are long and tedious. What I shouldve done is take it with Johnson.

Really nice professor but tends to be a little bit scatterbrained. Test questions are difficult and don't make a whole lot of sense. Study guides are sometimes but not always accurate. Powerpoints are vague and don't provide a lot of information.

- 29 quizes with 13-21 questions each, and you get only the average out of 100! - get the gist questions + poll questions + discussion responses +66 questions per chapter * 14 chapters and you get only 5 points per chapter - power points does not have much info - study guides are not accurate -exam questions are hard, indirect, short time

Ellickson has been one of the most approachable professors I've had in my college years. There are only three tests, and each comes with about 300 problems as homework, BUT its all through the online text and can be completed at any time before each test. The text covers thru the current political office, so it's relevant and more interesting IMO!

took him for pls 101 online and was very easy, just make sure you have a friend in the class with you because it makes the test way easier to get done in the short time frame he gives you

Ellickson is passionate about government. Learned more about the way government works in the semester I took with him than any other political science class. Some people say he's too conservative but I didn't see it. Makes you think&papers were pretty easy. Only 2 mandatory essays all semester and due dates given first day, plenty of prep time

I don't care what your views are as long as you present both sides accurately - Ellickson doesn't. I've never had a liberal professor at MSU who pushed their beliefs on me, but Ellickson seems convinced conservatives are persecuted and only assigned right-wing articles. On the plus, it was pretty easy.

This class is easy if you show up and read over the notes before the test. I got an A on each test and barely studied. 5 point quizzes every week based partly on the book, but I rarely read the chapters and did fine, plus he drops some grades. He's nice, but extremely misled and borderline conspiracy-theorist. If you are liberal at all, don't do it

You get 3 tests and 14 quizzes with the 4 lowest grades dropped. Sounds nice but with such a small amount of points you MUST do well on all exams (100) points. Quizzes are only 5 questions. He lectures about Obamacare the first 20 minutes of each class which is highly annoying.

This year he decided to give more quizzes- one after every chapter and less exams and no final. Sounds great right? No! the quiz is only 5 questions so if you miss 1 question you get an 80% and the quizzes are based off the book so buy it!. Exams are off of the powerpoints. nice guy but sucks

Dr. Ellickson gives a great class and even with not wanting to take this, he made it interesting and time in class seemed a lot shorter than what it could have. Study the powerpoints and you'll do fine.

Great Professor, don't buy the book the tests are directly off of the power points and he posts them online. He made the class very interesting and you get to watch a movie.
