I've actually taken his 3 of his courses and he is just about the best professor here at conn. He does go off topic and tell stories sometimes but other than that he knows his stuff and what hes talking about. Hes readily available to meet and discuss things from lecture or even assignments.

moorton is my absolute all-time favorite professor. he is the sweetest old man and he is so good-natured and funny. he's passionate about what he teaches and makes jokes all the time, which keeps class fun and engaging. he's really helpful if you're struggling and if you make an effort, he will reward you. he is the best guy around.

his classes are lectures, but i really don't know how else they can be taught. really funny guy, tells humorous stories. really knows his stuff. if you read the text and attend class, exams are really easy. he's also an extremely fair grader. one of my favorite profs at conn. retiring this year i think.

Comment:
He was a boring teacher. He knew something went wrong with the book and still decided to teach from that book meaning the only way of getting the material was his lectures which were unclear. He also digressed in the middle of his sentences and did not finish them making note taking hard. I wouldnt recommend a class with this professor.

Comment:
SO boring. I thought Ancient Comedy would be an interesting class, but it was unbearable. I fell asleep in about 80% of the classes, skipped all the time (really understanding when you're legitimately sick), and could barely get through most of the reading material. It's really easy to get an A, but you won't learn much and will be bored senseless.

If he didn't make us sign in i would never have gone to class. its completely lecture style and he rarely said anything that wasn't in the required reading except for his crazy side stories. he also mixed up the myths a lot so taking notes was pointless because you couldnt rely on them. lots of reading-im sure theres an easier way to fill the gened

His classes are all lecture based,so all he does is talk at you for one hour and 15 minutes every class. If you like this teaching style, then he is the guy for you! He tells some funny stories, which liven the class up a bit. I always feel like falling asleep...

Brilliant man whom I respect not only for his knowledge of classical mythology, but also for his biting wit and ability as a story teller. He reacts with such passion to the classics that is impossible not to become engaged as well. Just too damn funny and bright to pass up.

Moorton is a great person, very smart, good sense of humor. Makes lectures on 1500 years of Roman history very interesting. Not boring at all. If you do the reading, which can be a bit too much at times and study, the 3 exams will be fairly easy. Excellent professor.
