Professor is very good. He is kind of hard to understand but you will get hang of it. 3 tests total, curved. Homework given sometimes. Lets you use cheat sheet. Test were kind of hard. He needs to fix his final. Normally we have 3 hour for test but final was only 2. Made a big difference the hour. Hes fun teacher.

This professor is very nice person and knows his stuff. But, you don't know your grade till the semesters over. Test have a curve since no one really scores higher than a 80%. He gives you a cheat sheet which is very nice of him but its mostly useless since it consists of 300+ slides. By the time you find an answer you've spent 5min on 1 question.

This guy does not know how to teach. He is always late to class and takes our precious class time that us students pay for. If you want to learn, do not take his class. He does not do anything helpful for the students and he is very hard to understand.

Professor Song may have an accent, but it's not as bad as students are making it out to be. He's extremely caring, a professional in the subject matter, and wants everyone to do well in the class. His lectures are long, but straightforward. Note the main topics, review the slides, and compose a strong cheat sheet. Tests are all from the slides.

I dont know what everyone is complaining about. I took 2 classes with him and got an easy A. I am taking my 3rd class this semester with him. He has long lectures but as long as you put all the slides onto your 1 page cheat sheet (front and back), you will pass. His a nice man. Lenient. Easy grader. Scantron tests. Ask questions when you dont getit

Comment:
After taking Dr Xings class i found his teaching methods and overall format lazy and not effective. He simply reads his powerpoints of which contain hundreds of slides which you must know everything for the exam. He doesnt condense material or provided a concrete study guide. He seems like a nice man but as a professor it seems he s complacent.

I have taken two classes with him and usually zone out during his lectures. He lets you have 1 page of notes back and forth. If you correctly structure your notes you will get an A. I barely listened in both of his classes and came out with two A's. There is EASY homework but I don't think he even corrects it, just gives you 100, EASY labs, EASY.

The worst instructor I had in CSULA. His broken English and laziness in teaching let you have to learn most of the material by yourself. Under his smile, he has no real willingness in his heart to help student when they need. It also seems that he has not updated his knowledge in the field of IT and networking for years. Avoid him if you can

I have had this instructor for several classes, he is a good instructor, unless you have the motivation to learn self-taught and quickly. I suggest do not take this instructor. He is knowledgeable in the field of IT and networking, but that gets surpassed by his laziness and no willingness to help student understand the material.

1 pg front & back cheat cheat can be used on exams, curves grades, HW assignments requiring the book, lecture slides w lots of examples to memorize, & a heavy Chinese accent which makes everything more confusing & hard to understand. About 90% of the class failed his exams. If u have to take CIS 484, I highly do not recommend taking him.

Put everything on your cheat sheet (slides word for word), the hw answers and the midtermfinal review. You need to understand the CONCEPT and some details. Keeps you in until 9:30 PM with a 10 minute or so break. All he does is read from the slides. Don't ask questions because he doesn't answer them directly -- it'll just prolong the class.

He has a thick asian accent. Very hard to understand him. He puts his slides online, but his tests consist of the lecture AND the slides. He gives you 1 page cheat sheet. Tests are based on homework, his lecture, and slides. He curves HEAVILY.

Professor Xing is a very nice person, he's polite and will answer questions, which is good, cause you're going to have alot of them! His accent makes it impossible to understand him. His instructions are confusing and he's always late, even for the midterm and finals, like 30mins late. He should teach online, where an accent won't be noticeable.

Class will be easy if you do the homework, the labs and review the lecture slides. VERY hard to understand him; very thick accent. Book is expensive; possible to pass class without book. Doesn't really help when you are stuck, ask people who you sit by.
