I took Thermodynamics 2 with Professor Cioc and it was a good term. He is supportive to his students, makes tests from the textbook and what he taught in the class. If you are keeping up with his class materials, you will do well.

Comment:

Dr. Cioc is a fair grader who always tries to let you know what's on the tests. What's more, he's got an awesome but subtle sense of humor which helped me pay attention in class. Very much worth taking

He is great! You will definitely learn the material if you show up to class and take notes and take your time to understand and complete the homework. This can take some time, but it will be worth it. Very fair with all grading, lots of useful examples in class, knows the material, fast paced enough to keep interest but not get lost. Pay attention!

My favorite prof in the ME department for sure. Takes the time to make sure everything is explained well. Seems like a lot of homework but it really prepares you for the weekly quizzes and the exams are a tad more difficult...I made sure to sign up for thermo II when I saw he was teaching even though it wasn't my original schedule. Highly recommend

I'd argue that Cioc is the best professor in the MIME department. His quizzes and exams are usually very fair and cover the material that was on the homework. Makes what could easily be an extremely difficult class, into something that you can look forward to learning. Definitely take him for any class that you can.

My favorite ME prof yet. Humor! Clear in lectures; can understand and also covers theory and application. Do the homework and the weekly quizzes are not so bad. Quizzes and exams are open book, closed note; nice to not have to make a cheat sheet. He is a very fair grader. If you pay attention in class, the class is not too hard, just put in effort.

Best Mechanical Engineering at UT! He makes teaching priority over his research. He is always willing to help, makes jokes during lecture, and is extremely intelligent!

Overall he is a good to above average teacher, but my problem with him is he goes out of his way to make the tests more difficult than the homework. Test problems would the same type as the homework but would require a method of solving that we hadn't seen in the lectures or homework. He put stuff on test 2 from notes we didn't go over in class.

I have no complaints regarding my experience in Professor Cioc's class. His lectures covered both theory/concepts, and practical examples, solved in class. He graded fairly, returned assignments promptly, and assigned an appropriate amount of homework. There were weekly quizzes related directly to the previous week's assignment, and three exams.

Dr. Cioc is a wonderful teacher to have. I will actually have him for Heat Transfer in the Spring. He has quizzes every Friday and he is very engaging with the students. Sometimes its tough to read what he writes on the board but just ask and he will clarify.

Comment:

Awesome professor. Always willing to help and go out of his way to make a concept clear. Keeps class interesting. His enthusiasm is reflected in his teaching and it's easy to tell he cares about it. Just doing and understanding homework will result in above average quiz scores. There are no curve balls on exams. I wish he taught more classes.

Makes topic easy enough to understand in what can definately be a confusing subject. Grades fairly on the exams, a lot of people end up not having to take the final (I didn't). Good guy, interesting sense of humor.

Statistics is another waste of money and time in mech. eng. program. The material is stupid and we could have figured out how to interpolate and deviate in high school. He is a really nice teacher and is very easy with the grading. He is really really feminine and it took some getting used to. I would think he would be working in a hair salon

Very smart guy, but wasn't meant to be a teacher. Nice guy, and his test are extremely easy. Don't pay attention to any of his lectures, just look over the homework problems in the class extensively and you'll get an A.
