I enjoyed this class, the material was interesting. She is engaging in her lectures and all of them are online. Her feedback on testsquizzes is unclear. There are two 5 page papers but the requirements for them were not clear. Sometimes she can be a bit condescending when folks ask questions she doesn't know how to answer or are "dumb" questions.

She's very nice and fairly understanding. Fair grader. You can get by without reading but trust me, it will bite you in the ass later. Tests are not easy but they are rare. Talks about her work in Nepal ALL THE TIME. Its pretty interesting but gets kind of annoying. I love her and ill totally take her again, I actually am.

Nice lady. Talks a lot about Nepal, where she did her research. Lots of reading. Midterm and final are challenging, but you have almost no other assigments throughout the semester. Field work ethnographic project is fun.

It's not learning about religion, it's more about learning about the diff religions that vary in culture. A LOT OF READING, but overall very easy. lectures are fun and engaging. midterm is all essays, got a take home final. field work includes exploring religion different from your own. she's a very nice lady and always there when you need her!

Had for World Cultures. Awesome class overall. There was a lot of reading, but it was easy to tell the class was going to be reading heavy from the beginning. Professor Hangen is really really sweet and always available for office hours. Very understanding and tries to make the material interesting. Definitely would recommend. :)

Shes nice but not an easy course, make sure you read, its really hard to get by without reading, all of her essay questions on the midterm and final need to have examples from the readings, its easy to blow them off if you have work in other classes to do, but find time. I thought this class would be an easy A because it was intro level, not quite.

If you need an easy A or credits i wouldn't recommend this class, pick another one, don't take if you aren't interested in anthro. If you don't do the readings, you're screwed, hard to BS the material, it shows up on midterms and finals on essay questions, wants you to relate everything to the readings. It's intro level but don't let that fool you.

Religion in Cross-Cultural Perspectives: I was looking forward for this class until I didn't get there. The Professor is unclear what she wants most of the time. Always complaining for something. Very unhelpful when a student goes to her and just says "Do you best." Midterm, presentation and observation paper, final - very hard, most of it essays.

Professor Hangen is best described as the words "yes/yeah" and "uh-huh" because thats about all she ever says. She is by no means mean, and seems to care about her students. She can be very unclear at times, and often it seems like she doesnt know whats going on. Do not take for easy A, but its possible to get an A without a TON of effort

Inter Migration - Alright class. Reading HW's every single day, it's quite annoying. They are very verbose and really don't get to the point, a chore to get through. You need to raise that thing called a hand and use that thing called a mouth if you want a remotely good grade. Mid terms / Take Home, if you don't get an A you're a failure at life.

Almost everything you learn is from the assigned readings and each class is a review of the readings. Your grades are affected by attendance and participation in class. Her exams are mostly essays requiring references to readings. The class requires way too much effort. She's nice and will try to make you feel smart though she thinks ur a schmuck.

While the class was boring at times, Hangen was always very kind and enthusiastic. Never read because she reviews the assigned chapters the next day in class. The papers and midterm were easy. Helpful with paper revisions, and always lets you rewrite. Definitely would recommend.

Intro to Anthro. Easy class, never did the readings, she's really nice. I was bored because I hate anthro (only class that fit in my schedule), but it's cool I would def take her again for an easy A (if i liked anthro lol).

Very nice lady, never stops smiling, says "uh-huh" a lot. Only talks about Nepal a lot b/c she loves it, married a Nepali too. I got an A w/out ever buying the textbooks. Class 95% about India tho, be warned. Be nice to her and she'll be nice to you, loves when you participate, especially if debates get heated. Easy 2 talk to about help, papers etc

Anth of Gender: interesting, pleasant person, knowledgeable, organized. You will read alot of articles and books, but they're not hard. She values class participation and attendance. Mid term was fair, at home assignements are easy. Study a lot about India and South Asia, as well as feminism. Overall, a great class. Highly reccommended.

Nationalism and Ethnicity: This class is a complete waste of time for anyone who is not an anthropology major. All she does is talk about Nepal and make you read the most dense material on the planet. I learned nothing from this class except that I will never become an anthropology major. DO NOT TAKE WITH HER.

Very enthusiastic teacher. Has a very strict attendance policy, and expects you to be in class. Talks about Nepal all of the time. The 2 tests were mostly from the notes. Alot of reading though, and expects students to talk in class about the readings.
