This guy is so confusing. Nice man, but his grading criteria doesn't make sense and his lectures are always confusing (to me). He tends to go on tangents and that makes it difficult to keep up with what's going on.

Comment:

Framed kind of like a grad class.Great frame in which you teach yourself the material; if you rely on him to present the material straightforward you won't get anywhere. It's not how he teaches. Go to his office and talk to him outside of class, and you'll learn the class material and explore your own views in the process. Probably a fave teacher.

Comment:

I had him for Anthropology and he's a pretty easy grader and doesn't take attendance, but he's very unorganized. He goes off topic a lot and will give pop quizzes, but his tests are fair and he is really interested in this topic. Just read and you'll be fine. If you are interested in taking the class go for it, I'm glad I had him over someone else.

Pretty bad prof. Yea he obviously knows his anthropology, but when you have kids who are taking this for a GE, they just do not care nearly enough. his syllabus is completely useless b/c it never matches up with anything he says, he is boring as all hell, and just kind of creepy. Hes a nice guy i guess, just has a weird vibe that i dont like.

As many below have said, patience is key. Demunck is brilliant but can have trouble getting the point across. Go to his office hours, talk after class and he will make sure you get it. Also read the book, people expect to pass unprepared for the class, this will get you nowhere. People whining about him are usually the ones that refuse to read

Paticence with him is key. Seems alittle scary at first, but you soon learn to realize that he's really a nice guy who will go out of his way to please his students. Makes sure you know the material by randomly quizzing his students, but if you stop by his office, he will go out of his way to make sure you understand before leaving.

Victor DeMunck is brilliant. Being patient with him is well worth it. I'll admit that when I first met him, I thought he was arrogant and kind of a jerk. I was right but I've gotten over it. Take his classes (especially electives) and you will see that if you let him, he will blow your mind.

The social org hasn't been as horrible as everyone makes him out to be. he's been fair (not playing favorites) and he makes it easy for you to do well on quizzes. His lectures sometimes go on tangents but he somehow pulls it all together....i'm still nervous for research methods with him, though

While sometimes amusing and friendly, I felt that he often played favorites (once giving his 2 favorites an opportunity to make up a quiz and not others) and was sometimes very hard to understand. While he has enthusiasm for his work, he sometimes gets a bit too cocky about it.

Terrible. You know the teachers who do not have any class plans ever and then expect so much out of you? Yeah... thats him. No lecture at all, just asks questions he expects you to know the answer to and then if you don't answer the way he wants you to, he looks at you like you're an idiot. This guy should not get a paycheck. Also, huge EGO!

I have to agree with the fifth comment past mine. He plays the acedemic game well but is one of the worst teachers I've had at NP. Everything is very unorganized, little indication of how you will be graded, and will penalize you for not reading his mind. He may be knowledgeable, even nice, but he's a very poor teacher.

very unuorganized method of teaching. I commend his over all persona because he is a very down to earth man, but as a teacher, either he's lost his touch or just isnt the best at educating others. Quizes were indeed tricky, but he gave three of the same quizes to help us boost our grades.

He is the best teacher i've ever had. Very open minded, respects all cultures, very good sense of humor. After graduating he's one of the only professors that i miss. His class was so much fun!

I don't have a vendetta against him and I'm not lazy. He may be a nice guy, but he is a horrible teacher. His classroom style is unstructured and muddled and this will only hurt you grade wise. He knows the subject matter, but cannot teach it. It's a shame he can get away with teaching so poorly and that students will fall into this crack.

The kids who left negative reviews are rotten.He's extremely good-natured,too tolerant of his delinquent class' heckling,& can be coaxed into doing group discussion instead of a quiz,because he's a nice guy & doesn't want to screw over his students.Tries unique approaches to teaching:He's the most out-of-the-box teacher I've had- impressively so.
