Slonaker is a good professor and a great person. He's helpful and personable and has a quirky sense of humor. His tests are easy if you either 1.) show up and pay some attention in class or 2.) read the textbook. He gives quizzes at the end of each class to check attendance but they're only worth about 5% of your grade. Essays are take home.

here's the deal: 12 question take home quiz every week, 2 essays on articles (2 pages each), then you pick the activities for rest of your grade (class participation, presentation, attendence, final paper (pick 2)), class is just him going through articles and class discussing, boring, but dont have 2 participate if dont want 2

Boring class, but necessary to go for attendance points. Take home essay for part of the test, plus multiple choice in class. Read the textbook and you will do fine.

Teaches the class based on ethics. Take home tests are "on your honor." First class I took, 13 years after a grad. degree and I loved it. He cares about the students and truly wants students to understand the issues. I recommend taking him - he rocks!

Excessive amout of reading with no real content to learn. The tests are designed to determine whether the reading was done, not to assess learning. Fortunately most questions are so poorly designed that they can be answered without completing the reading. Most students like the class because he is personable and and it's an easy A.

Great class. Great prof. He is a pretty funny guy and makes class fun and engaging with his stories. Take-home quizzes only, no exams. One of the best classes I've ever taken!

50% take-home tests. 20% is 3 papers on articles you read. 30% up to you, paper, attendance, etc. You don't need to go to class. Pointless. Found discussions to be a lot of regurgitation and classmates who like to hear themselves talk. Way too much reading, but you don't really need to do it. Waste of time.

He has 3 multiple choice tests (cases, terms, class pointers). A paper on discrimination/diversity, which can be done with a partner. Start early. Easy pop quizzes, ask for questions test-related. I would recommend him.

Read the chapters (easy). Read ALL of the cases and remember the court's wording. Understand the cases. If he has you highlight an area, remember it word for word! He's amazing. His take home essays, he grades a bit rough, but read that chapters before writing the essay and you'll know all the parts. I typed my notes on top of highlighting to help.

He's a wonderful professor. This class was one night a week. The time went by quickly and it was seldom boring. His tests are reasonable (multiple choice with a take-home essay). I would highly recommend him. Nice guy.

Great guy, made class interesting by using stories of the real world. It was a 8:30am class which I was regretting but Slonaker kept me awake. Really wants to help out his students. Quizzes were easy and tests were open book! Had a bunch of papers though but overall a good class.

Weekly quiz makes attendance mandatory, but no midterm/final. 3 short papers due, one 10 page paper as final. Many WSJ to read. Accept there is only ONE right answer ("It is unethical!) to whatever is read and be vocal about it, and you will do fine. As a person, very kind.
