He's not a bad guy he's pretty nice but he's a tough grader. I took his Paris class as an FYE and it was super hard. The class is very heavily lecture-based and attendance is mandatory. He does know the material but if you're not interested in the topic it might be a hard class for you.

Dr.O makes you work for your A's and B's. The Paris class is a great subject but I did not expect to be doing essays and that many readings! It's a first year experience class so it should've be a cake walk... Pop quizzes are common but he'll tell you a few days head of time (like two). Overall a super nice guy though.

Dr. O is a great professor! I took his FYE called City of Light and his FYTE called Paris up close, I loved it! He is very understanding and is willing to help you if you have any difficulties. He really cares about his students and is very knowledgable.

I took this class for a comparitive transnational credit for a history major as opposed to a 300 level course for the same credit. I regret that. Don't make the mistake assuming Dr. O's 200 level will meet 200 level requirements. He assigns small papers but I never felt like his expectations were clear. I'm typically an A or B+ student... Got a C+.

Paris FYE- His class is all lecture based, he sits in front of the class and rambles. he is very interested in the topic but it is a very bland and boring class. He gives a lot of reading homework that you will be quizzed on the next day. The rest of your grade is your mid term, exam, and a few papers and he is a very tough grader.

Although I only had class with Dr O. once a week for the Paris study abroad trip, it was an absolute delight. Spending the week in Paris with him and the rest of the group was the best experience of my life and I wish I could do it again. Dr O. really loves teaching and you can tell that he cares about your well-being even after the class is over.

By far, he is the most influential and interesting professor that I have had. He will push you because he wants you to see the potential that HE sees, and he wants you to do well. He is so knowledgeable about Europe, the classics, and knows the answer to pretty much anything. I can't wait to take more classes with him, I HIGHLY recommend him.

Dr. O is easily one of the best professors I have ever had. The class was not easy at all, but I learned so much and was so happy that I decided to take the class. There was a ton of reading, but if you are interested in history or Europe at all, I highly recommend taking one of his classes.

Great professor, though he is a tough grader and makes you work for everything. That said, he is right - if you take him for 299 any History (or even humanities) class you take after you will be far better prepared for. If you are lazy forget it. If you are in school to learn and prepare for your future he's an A+ professor.

The subject seemed interesting but I made a mistake by not reading reviews beforehand. Basically, If a professor has mixed reviews, avoid. The majority of the students that actually like the teacher are those who learning comes easy. He is a nice guy but grades harsh and his test and assignments are ridiculous. He overkills everythings.

Dr. O's class is no walk in the park but you really learn a lot about the study of history! He is always available in his office and genuinely wants to see students do well. He challenges you to think harder and is surprisingly an easy grader. Class requires A LOT but you'll be thankful you took him! Plus no huge paper due at the end! TAKE HIM!

Dr. O is a really good professor. He is very informed and passionate about what he is teaching. HOWEVER, he gives you work like his class is the only class you have. He treats assignments that take a long time as if they are no big deal. Only class really overwhelming me. Be prepared to work REALLY hard

Overall he's a nice guy, but essentially he's your average shill for the status quo who tirelessly repeats his bland, uninteresting version of revisionist history. Like I said, he's a well intentioned person. However, he fails to be anything more than a messenger for the political establishment.

He wants his students to do well and learn about being successful in a college setting. Because of this the course work is quite difficult. I took the City of Light FYS and it was quite challenging. I put a lot of work in and I did well. If you are struggling I suggest you see him in office hours. Participate in class!!!!!
