Comment:
Doctor Shahrrava may be good in his field, but he is definitely not a great professor. He lacks everything that a teacher/professor should possess. He teaches as if he is talking to himself, totally ignoring questions asked by students. He lacks communication, compassion, understanding, etc. for his students. He should retire as a professor!

Comment:
Dr. Shahrava has a very good understanding of what he does and has the potential to be a great professor, but his lack of organization or communication makes understanding his lectures impossible. Reading the textbook will usually save you with profs like this, too bad the exam questions are pulled from concepts in his lectures and not the book.

sometimes too impulsive, expects student have a great interest in just his specialization of electrical. doesn't care much if you fail or pass; popular with his see you next year line. heavy on homework. Past questions will save your life, but try to know your stuff

If you care about just passing this course, try to get a hold of old exams and keep re-doing them over and over again. If you actually want to learn the content, the lectures are very heavy and he moves very fast. So try to spend 1 hr everyday studying the lectures and understanding everything. The homework is very difficult, so most people cheat

He is running capstone this year. He is terrible. Poor communication and organizational skills. We met maybe 4 times over both semesters, excluding our progress presentations, which went terribly. He told groups their projects weren't difficult enough, despite having already approved them. Just goes to show he didn't read the proposals.

He was using an old exam for the first midterm, and he sometimes does this for the final midterm. I know students who studied only an old exams have passed the first midterm and the course with a decent grade. While some people tell you to study hard, I tell you to find as many old tests and practice them over and over.

This one separates the wheat from the chaff. If there ever was a professor/course combo that gave you an idea of what electrical engineering is all about, its this. Extremely difficult, but if you manage to learn it you will be a god. He understands this fact and decides to hit you hard and force you to learn rather then give you a rubber stamp.

Very intense class. The content is not very easy to understand, and it doesn't help that the lecture examples are way easier than homework questions or midterms/exams. I cannot believe the amount of homework required to be submitted every week, so much paper used in this class. Each question takes up a page. Starts simple, then becomes very hard.

He explains concepts well, but his tests are far more difficult than in class. Should probably go to class if you want to get a decent grade. Don't know a soul who did well and didn't go to class.

The content he has to teach is very difficult, and he doesn't make it any easier by assigning tons of mandatory homework every week. He does not engage class, in fact he hates when he has to stop the class to answer questions. Very difficult to approach outside of class. Exams are very difficult, know what you're doing and study hard, don't slack.

Barely uses Blackboard. He posts homework assignments with solutions that are barely legible and some solutions are incorrect. Dont bother going to class. He takes the easy way out by just deriving formulas and going through theory, rather than doing examples. 65% of the class failed the midterm and he told those with low marks to drop the course.

Don't waste your time going to his office hours. He won't hep you and will tell you to learn it yourself. Better off memorizing the textbook than doing his assignments. Will tell you to drop out if you don't pass the midterm (over 55% will fail it). Breaks the rules every year.

No marking scheme. He'll mark some questions normally and others extremely unfair. Dont complain though, no reason, university wont do anything since he makes too much money for them. Read the BOOK, in class its easy stuff, exams arent.

His exams are hard but he's such a nice person ! If you go to his office hours, he'll dedicate his time to make sure you fully understand concepts. He really wants you to do well and wants you to get the most out of his class.

Makes you do insanely long assignments. Then he doesn't base the exams on them. Doesn't say what the exam questions will be like or give practice problems. Goes on 5 minute rants every so often complaining about his professor evaluations. Fails a good chunk of the class.

He wants you to get the concepts fully. whenever someone disrupts his class, he get's angry and does a 5 minute speech that you should learn from your degree as that knowledge will help in your future career. It may be why his test difficulty is up a notch as he wants to drill the knowledge in your head, not memoriz. Always go to his signals class.
