Took a class with him last semester and am in one with him now. Leaves classroom constantly (during evaluations (so we can't ask questions), during presentations (that he's suppose to be marking), etc.). Did a debate for him today and he accused me of not being prepared (I spent four hours preparing). Unclear guidelines. Doesn't return graded work.

Good prof, I didn't mind his teaching methods it does take a while to get used to him. He isn't very clear in assignments but as long as you ask specific questions he will explain it better. Tests aren't hard he just expects you to read through the material and give your opinion on it. Grammar does count! He will call on you during class.

Mbarga's courses are all the same from what I hear. Although he is a nice guy, I hated almost everything that I read in his class. He disappears from the classroom every time we do work or a test. If its boring enough that you have to leave, than so should I...

He is an amazing professor. Very intelligent and knows what it is he is teaching you. Always willing to help you out if you need it. He likes his students to attend his classes which is understandable and will give you a good participation mark if you're always there. Gives homework, but it is done so in a way that will benefit you.

DO NOT recommend this class. 7:00 to 9:50pm no break. anticipated learning, practicing or even improving french skills (this was not the case). We were given research based assignments and debates. Had to go in front of class to present your research and graded based on ability to speak french + teacher was not helpful

He is an AWESOME prof! I loved going to his class. Yes, he does grammar at points, but it's mostly about mistakes that appear frequently in our writing - so it's good to learn from our mistakes. He's very easy going, great prof to talk too, and approachable. He's not a hard marker and tests are fairly simple. Did I mention he's awesome?!

focuses a lot on grammar, but explains things well, gives opportunity for questions, and tries to answer them as best he can. is a fair marker, the evaluations and quiz's are fairly simple, and he is very understanding when something comes up (in my case, it was medical). the class can be challenging, but it's not as bad as i was expecting.

This class was soooo boring!!! and he is such a stickler for grammar, yet, the only way he can teach it is from reading from a sheet! He makes little to no sense most of the time and I thought that this class was called textes not grammar. Because grammar is what we spend the majority of our time on. He is nice though I just can't stand the class!

This prof got his information mixed up and was corrected by students. Although he has a good level of knowledge in the French Language Mbarga is unable to effectively and clearly explain french grammar.

Unfortunetaly, he is extremely hard to understand. He is a nice and all, but he makes no sense at all during class and translating directly to english only makes the class even more confusing.

The course material covered did not go with the discription of the course. If you are interrested in Africain history and culture this might be good, for you. Made you do assignmnets (oral presentations) and did not mark them

All of his French class's material is about French-African literature. Other than that, it is a good class, he just needs some variety. This is his first year though, give him time.
