Comment:

Dr. Proulx is a good guy who knows what he's talking about. However, he is one of the lease approachable profs I've had. His lectures are always an abundance of powerpoint slides, not much interesting. Hard-is marker, but has very clear criteria and directions for assignments.

Comment:

At first, I found Dr. Proulx to come off a bit snooty, but after a while, I found he was a really funny guy. Dr. Proulx gives you every opportunity to succeed, he doesn't baby you and put up with nonsense. In his lectures, he tells you what's important, in his syllabus and posted documents all of his instructions are very clear and simple to follow

Comment:

Did not enjoy this class whatsoever. I took Cultural Anthro with him and I found it extremely dull and boring. All he does is lecture and just reads off his slides. Also a very hard marker. I found I did not learn much from the class and the material that he taught. I personally found him not that approachable and super condescending.

Comment:

Proulx won't cater to you or take any excuses. His lectures are engaging and usually interesting, he might be a little intimidating but he is helpful. He drops a lot of hints of what is important, don't miss class because a lot of the stuff on the tests will be from his lectures. Pay attention to format, he gives you a guide, use it!

Comment:

A good professor who really knows his stuff. He is clear on what he wants and his essay guideline is helpful to first years. His lectures are coloured with his opinions (very left wing) however he is honest about this. One must only take his opinion with a grain of salt if we disagree with it.

I am a 1st year student, and have only had 5 profs so far. He is my favorite Prof. He does have very strong opions that people get offended by, but i like that he knows him self so well. He knows his subject very well and i am always very into his lectures

Comment:

Just because he has opinions does not mean he is a bad prof, he makes it very clear what you need to do to be successful. His lectures are impressive and he is very involved. It is worth going to talk to him during his office hours when doing a paper for him. Excellent course.

Comment:

Arrogant, and intrusively opinionated. I took my first year of Cultural Anthro with him. He scarcely got through a sentence that wasn't coloured heavily by his opinions. As a 1st year prof this is awful, students have little critical thinking skills at that point. The man is devoid of the self awareness required to teach another person.

Very full of himself, mostly talks about his book during class. As long as you read the books, you can do well in this class, but pay attention to structure and grammar or else you get a very long lecture about how stupid you are.

Very pompous, class is interesting, but opinions are often interjected into the material. Grammar is big with Proulx. Hard to talk to, seems very disinterested.

I absolutely love this professor! He comes off a little intimidating at first, but Dr. Proulx is a great instructor. He is well versed in his materials, and though he does often subject his students to his personal opinions, his lectures are always interesting. His eagerness and concern in helping first year students out with writing is a god send!

This professor uses all essay questions on his exams. He is very anal when it comes to the smallest things. I worked very hard on the 40% essay and definitely did not deserve a D. He is interesting when he is teaching but finds talking to students a waste of his time.

He's a very interesting man, extremely left wing, so if you like that it's awesome. He has good lectures, and you can pretty much sit there and comprehend what he says. I like him a lot. At first you'll think he is a tough man to get along with, but just be intelligent when asking questions, and listen.

He's a pretty cool guy, he's smart and funny. He somehow manages to keep you interested in what he's talking about with all the crazy jokes and things he'll come up with. He seems pretty tough to start with but it begins to dwindle down somewhat. I'd recommed his classes to anybody!!!!

He is a good guy. I think he is great. To be where he was to being a prof is amazing. No wonder he thinks highly of himself I would too if I made it that far from my circumstances. He is down to earth and smart which is hard to come by. He is hilarious and I do not think his jokes are real but it makes class a lot more interesting. Take his class!

I took a class with him and found it pretty intresting. Sometimes he may seem hardcore but overall I loved the way he taught class. Def. would reccomand any of his classes to anyone
