I appreciated Dr McWilliams course. She has a unique way of teaching composition and it really helped me learn to write a good essay. Her expectations are clear, we did plenty of in-class writing and peer reviews. I ended up getting all As in her class. I wish she had a 2010 course.

Shes very particular in what she wants and if not followed you will fail the course. She tries to help you, but isnt the best at explanations to resolve the issue.

Where to start? The topic of the essays are unclear and yet are somehow the exact same. If she thinks she has an inkling of understanding the topic you've chosen, she will tear apart your paper if you interpret it differently from her. She doesn't like your paper? Either 0 or redo with probably not much better a score. love yourself, don't take her

She tries to help, but she is unclear about directions. When you do exactly what she says you still get an F. Don't take this class unless you want to suffer.

I had the chance to take Dr. McWilliams's elective class "The Art of Humorous Essays" this semester, after taking classes with her in previous semesters as well, and let me just tell you... she's amazing. McWilliams cares about her students. She will actively attempt to help you if you struggle with the class. And she's great to just talk with.

I took her for English 1010. She gives a lot of feedback on your essays but one thing that would help you would be knowing the attendance policy by heart. I missed a couple of classes due to emergencies and I automatically failed the class. READ THROUGH HER SYLLABUS

I personally had a lot of struggles during my time of taking this class, and I think a teacher that didn't care would have failed me outright. Dr. Mcwilliams will work with you as much as she can- just go talk to her outside of class! She loves communicating with students and is easy to talk to. You can get the book for $4 & is small- a big plus!!

Dr. Cynthia McWilliams was an AMAZING teacher. She is a tough grader, but will tell you what she expects out of the paper ahead of time. She allows you to rewrite every paper one time for a better grade, and she also does peer reads a week before the final paper is due.

Her hatred for technology takes away from the course. Every paper is on technology and why it's bad. She's a tough grader, but she lets you rewrite every paper once. Lectures aren't bad. I enjoyed listening to her. Most classes were either discussion over reading, peer review, or grammar excerises. Didn't learn much, but I enjoyed the class.

Dr. McWilliams was an excellent professor. This class is mainly writing papers, but she is clear on what she wants and you have enough time to write them. Mid-terms and Finals is a paper written in class. She does challenge you, but she gives great feedback, and she also gives you one chance to rewrite every paper. I highly recommend taking her.

She does not use D2L or the internet to communicate assignments or grades so make sure you attend, take notes and write everything down. She will explain the writing assignments to you if you don't understand, but send them to the Writing Lab for extra help because she can still be confusing. Finally, be prepared to speak a lot in class.

very hard to pass this class. took this class on her recommendation and was failed for the semester on the first paper. Her instructions on assignments were hard to understand, very hard to get extra help when needed. overall seemed very disinterested to be teaching this class. Would not take her again or recommend her as a teacher to take.

Dr McWilliams and I are close to the same age; I am a returning student and military veteran. I have no intentions of being a teacher, my goal is to be published. I treated her with the respect that she earned as a PhD and did not whip out my cell phone nor hide my ipad every time she turned her back. She's a great teacher, very easy-going.

Dr. McWilliams was a great teacher. There are 8 papers, but they are easy and she tells exactly what she wants to make an A. She allows students to make several revisions, so don't worry about your grade the first time. If you need help, she will help you. Just go to her before or after class or during her office hours.

Dr. McWilliams is the MOST caring professor I have ever taken. Yes, you will work for your grade, but this is college. Her class is interactive. She is funny and kind. If you need clarity on an assignment she will work hard to ensure you understand. She pushes dates back on papers and cares more about you as a person than most professors. TAKE HER!

All negative / moody comments were made by students in her freshmen class. Yes, most teachers hate freshmen classes. She was wonderful and easy to work with at the Junior Level. Attendance was not strict. She was sweet. She's the lady to go have coffee with and discuss it into the evening.

Moody person! She expects you to be in class. If you are willing to make an effort she will help you out. She very strict on the grammar on your papers, but you will walk away learning something. If you fail this class it's because you simply did not apply yourself.
