She is super sweet and helpful with everything. It is a lot of work and if you skip one class you'll be sooooo behind. She does do clicker questions as your attendance grade.

Comment:

Dr. Feakes is an amazing lecturer, & she truly cares about her students. She's always willing to help. Exams are tough, but she gives you practice exams & other tools to help you pass the exams. Lots of homework, but she offers very helpful study sessions. Not an easy A, but just study and try on the homework. weekly quizzes. didn't use textbook.

Comment:

Amazing teacher, class is very very difficult, but teacher explains very very well. Test very hard. weekly quiz will ruin your grade if you do not study before every Friday. thoughtful and respectable smart teacher who also gives extra credit. This class will probably take more of your time from other classes. dont take with other maths or sciences

Dr. Feakes is an amazing professor, very passionate about what she teaches and actually seems to enjoy her job! Attendance is not mandatory, but i highly recommend that you attend every lecture. Tests are hard, but it's chemistry what do you expect? She offers a lot of help, ATTEND SI session as often as possible. Always willing to help. LOVED her.

Comment:

She is an excellent chemistry teacher, and there are a lot worse choices you could make. She is easy going, gives a lot of help, and best of all: actually seems to enjoy her job. Keep in mind this is a SCIENCE class: It's the hardest type of class, but as far as chemistry teachers go, she's a great choice.

Everyone is saying she is easy and looking at the grade she has on there I thought so too. LIES she teaches this class as if it's not an intro Chem class. She's a nice passionate woman but moves as the speed if lightning through material. The first exam I didn't do will and asked the SI for help first thing she said Drop the course for your $$back

Dr. Feakes took over during our semester for a very terrible Chemistry teacher we had first who got another job (thankfully). She saved our class and went back over a lot of stuff none of us had grasped from the said teacher and made the material clear and easy to understand through examples. She's awesome!

Dr. Feakes is pretty great. I had a bad professor for CHEM 1 and she really helped me catch up. Always go to office hours and take good notes and you'll be fine. I totally recommend her. Oh and bring your clicker.

Dr. Feakes is a GREAT teacher BUT this class is challenging. She is good at explaining things and going to class is definitely necessary (although not required) if you want to get a decent grade. I would recommend going to the SI sessions if it's offered because those help ALOT. You also don't need the book, it's really for practice problems

Comment:

Dr. Feakes is a GREAT professor! She explains everything really well and makes chemistry interesting. Her tests are killer though. The long answer part of the exams kill me. But she does give points if you show you work, just no full credit. Getting an A is almost impossible if you're not really good at chemistry.

Feakes really is a great professor. She is very intelligent and you can tell her passion is chemistry. She explains everything really well, but if you're not a Chemistry major and you just need it as a pre-req I'd take someone easier. Her tests are EXTREMELY hard. But if you're generally interested in Chem you should take her!

Comment:

She tries to explain everything in depth. This class is hard and her exams are killer. Everyone else talks about how easy chem is and their multiple choice exams. I highly advise you to take someone else. She forgets this is an intro to chem class and talks to everyone like they are about to gradate with a chemistry degree.

Outstanding chemistry teacher. If she is teaching a course that you need, take it from her! She is an extremely good teacher. The tests are really hard, but its Chemistry, you should expect hard tests. She does what she can to prepare you for them

I took this class during the summer, and ended with a C. However, if I had put in more time, or taken it throughout a full semester, I know I would've done better. Feakes is an AMAZING professor, and she breaks everything down to where it's very easy to understand. She is very generous, always willing to help, and one of my favorite professors.

look she's a good teacher and all, but her test were impassable, half way through the semester half the class had dropped and I was not at all surprised. SI is the only thing that can help with this schools chem department, and my was WORTHLESS. she's hit or miss because if your takeing any other class or have a job you will fail this class.

pretty good teacher overall. Her tests are HARD, you have to study. a lot. The chemistry department offers study sessions though for the tests, so you should definitely go to those. The weekly quizzes will help your grade a lot in the long run. She's always willing to help if you need it, don't be afraid to ask questions. She really knows he stuff.
