Professor Vipond's class was overall laid back, with the occasional 5 page essay. We watched two films in class, and most of her classes were centered around analyzing texts. She assigned a presentation, 2 reading logs, and 2-3 essays. But somehow she made the class feel less heavy. I recommend taking her!

Overall nice teacher. She is kind of intimidating at first but you get past it. She was a great professor, made me enjoy english. Readings are required to pass! Would have gotten a better grade if it weren't for the poem essay which was kind of hard.

She followed the syllabus!! One of the best professors, I learned a lot in her class. There is a part in the class though where you do an outside observation so keep that in mind when picking your schedule!

This class was overrated. There is nothing to it, didn't learn much by the required 20 hours of High School one on one. Everything is repeated theory and this Professor takes it too serious for what it is. Just copy all her work and you should be fine.

You would think her grading is precise just as described In her syllabus or as she grades. However, you will not receive the grade you have earned unless she likes you or finds you worthy of it. You can follow all her guidlines and get As on all the quizzes, but in the end, she will give you the grade she wants. Not a fair instructor at all.

This class is basically on how good you are able to follow instruction, so be prepared to invest all your time if you want a good grade, not fair but having a job and other courses won't cut it. The readings are pretty easy even though you need to read a novel each week, most students got by just by reading Schmoop (wish I would have done that too)

Expect to put in all your time to this class. She expects complete dedication to her course even if you have other things going on. There isnt much to learn, she just wants you to be able to follow all her directions attentively and accurately (All formats you wont use later on). Very out dated and uncreative teaching ideas.

Everything is very directional which makes the work seem very complicated but it is much less than what it is. Seems to have graded plainly on the high school project. Lectures are boring so not quiet sure what this course was about. Didnt learn anything.

the professor was nice, but lectures could get boring from time to time. readings weren't that difficult, just a lot of work, and final was very long as well. only two papers, easy grader. class time is spent talking about readings, sometimes quizzes (but she tells you ahead of time)

Vipond is organized and gives clear expectations for her students. Seemingly a lot of busy work, but you can find its merit if you choose to. She values participation and can tell when effort and preparation have been put into an assignment. Overall, she is solid professor and not that tough of a grader. I learned a lot from her and the class.

Most uptight professor I have had at CSULB. Very one sided as well. She will remark if your opinions dont own up to hers. Lots of work even if you have a full schedule.

I took Vipond for Metafiction and Adolescent lit, and she is a great professor. There is a lot of work to be done in her classes, but honestly she wants you to be the best you can be. She likes doing oral presentations, but they are decently formal and on either the textbook or the novels you will read. All in all, a great person.

You have to read one YA novel a week, but they're easy enough to get through. You will be quizzed after each novel, so you have to do the reading to pass. Be prepared to spend time doing field work, which will be followed by a field experience report at the end of the semester. There is one group project and a cumulative final. Fun and informative.

I really enjoyed this class with Dr. Vipond. She is a very nice and soft-spoken professor. She does do pop quizzes to check if you have done the reading assignments. This course requires a lot of reading but it is not hard. There are presentations and discussions to further elaborate on assignments which helps alot. Very Helpful! Love this class!

I didn't know what to expect with 250B. Especially with previous reviews on Prof Vipond. There is a lot of reading, some quizzes, a big group project, some smaller group projects, two papers, and a final. She was helpful and interesting and super nice. The papers and quizzes are easy, but the final is tough! It's one students have to study for!

Dr. Vipond is a very sweet lady, & she's passionate about what she does. This class felt very disorganized, & it was hard to keep up at times. She expected us to complete a ridiculous amount of work in a tiny amount of time, which wasn't realistic. I really enjoyed my experience though, & would only recommend to those willing to do a lot of work.

She always looked great and she was very sweet, but honestly the class was pretty boring at times. We did A LOT of repetitive group work, and sometimes I felt like there could have been other methods to get us to learn the material. The final was pretty hard-there was an extreme amount of writing, but other than that I liked her class. I got a B.

Dr. Vipond is very passionate about what she teaches and fully demonstrates it. She sets up very high expectations for teachers. Some people may complain about the workload, but if you're going into teaching suck it up! We need hardworking teachers who are ready to take on the challenges. Everything you learn in this class is very practical.
