Very kind and knowledgeable Professor. Although I was guilty of sleeping in class a lot, I feel like he still looked at everyone with fairness and affection, and was very clear on his teaching criteria's and methods. I wish for him the best as he claimed that he will retire soon.

Gordon Leighton is pretty boring and the stories seem mostly intended for 70 year old men in senior homes. Super boring books and daily reading that takes upwards of 60 minutes. Overall not a hard teacher just super boring class. He does not let you use your phone or laptop, and will embarrass you if you do.

Gordon is great! When I took his class, we wrote a 2-3 page essay due every other week. So, we had about 5 essays throughout the quarter, but it wasn't bad at all. Just make sure you show up to class when you have writing groups and pay attention to what he wants to see in those essays. He's kind, funny, and will help if you have questions!

I took his English 101 class focusing on Career Choices and let me tell you, I don't think I've ever had such an easy class in my life. We basically had 5 papers, 2 weeks per paper. He does have strict grading in terms of punctuation and grammar. Attendance is mandatory but lectures are sometimes irrelevant to our assignments.

The teacher requires attendance which doesn't suit my type of class. For me, it is important to learn, and not very much in attending the class, unless I'm motivated to go to the class. The teacher is quite a tough grader sometimes. English has been one of my favorite subjects, so it was a little okay for me to do the papers given.

My class had 5 papers and they where graded on organization, content, and editing. The stuff we did in class was useless I could have never showed up and gotten the same grades on my papers, but he dose grade on attendance. He does per reading groups which was the only helpful thing in his class. Show up to these they really effect your grade.

Very knowledgeable on Shakespeare and shows a lot of movies so you can fully understand. Understands Shakespeare is tough and wants his students to succeed. He offers a ton of help and extra credit and is super nice and helpful when meeting one on one. He warns many times that if you skip a ton of class you won't do well. Sign in for attendance.

Combo class of English 101 and Shakespearean lit, but it's 90% Shakespeare 10% English and it shows. Haven't learned a thing about writing a paper half way through the quarter, and his critique of papers is extremely poor, it's like he doesn't even know what he's looking for. Impossible to self improve in his class, but hey now I know useless info.

Good teacher if you show up, can get on tangents sometimes and if you ask off topic questions he can waste time. Doesn't like electronics much during films, focuses on grammar a lot. Make sure you show up for writing groups with a full paper.

When i took him we had to do like 5 papers every week which i found to be redundant and useless beside the fact that i just need to work on my grammatical errors. Gives extra credit opportunities passed with a B+ because of extra credit. i really did work really hard but i guess he didn't seem to care beside his own judgement. literally. good luck

My advice: show up to class b/c he does take attendance everyday and keeps track of it, gives good feedback on papers, really hard grader when it comes to grammatical errors so make sure you are flawless of those errors!,great guy except i would never take him again, lectures are boring and sometimes fun, amount of work put in determine grade & GL!

I just started this class and so far I'm noticing that he's not very clear with what it is he wants you to be doing. In class he'll say one thing and you'll think that's what he wants you to do but then you would look on the paper topics and realized that, that isn't what you're doing. It's only let of it. If you are confused please ask him!!

Good attendance, participation in group work, watching movies and turning in your papers on time are keys to success in his class. He gives comments and recommendations when I discuss my draft paper with him in his office before turning in. Mr Leighton is an amazing professor, so I recommend him.

I have taken' over 55 credits at Bellevue College.I have had the good teachers, and the bad. I have had the hard classes, and the easy. In the list of teachers I have had, Gordon will always be my favorite. Ever watch a good movie and wish you could watch it again for the first time? That's how feel about his class.I wish I could take it again.

Leighton's a great teacher. He really understands and is enthusiastic about the literature he's teaching. There can be a large work load but the work is fun and interesting because of his teaching style. He gives clear instructions. His lectures are well-thought out and engaging. I highly recommend him.

He gives daily reading assignments that you discuss every day. Super easy except the stories tended to be extremely long to read each night. If you are in class each day taking notes then the in class essays will be a piece of cake.
