Took american horror literature. The guy was really into his work no doubt but he was never clear on the assignments. He would give vague abstract paper topics and then penalize you for not going the direction he thought you should have gone in.

Wonderful professor! Will keep you entertained, even if you don't like the literature. Tests are extremely easy if you study EXACTLY what's on the study guide. Gives reading hw every class, but it's not too much. 2 papers, several simple quizzes, and a midterm and final. Take this professor!

This guy is incredible. He's an old dude, and yet he talks like...like...I don't even know. He can appeal to anyone, like I mean ANYONE. He's just such a good speaker. And he explains the stories so clearly and with such detail, you don't ever even have to ask questions it's so good. The paper wasn't too hard, and neither were the quizzes and tests

Tough professor but good. You MUST do the work. If you're a slacker you won't do good. He does have some weird views on some stories. He is very critical when it comes to essays. He was a bit rude with comments he wrote on one of mine. Try not to take it personal. I would recommend him to anyone who is actually into English. He made it interesting.

Had him for 3 classes, one of my fav English professors. Attend class, take notes, read assigned stories, write the essays, study for mid-term and final, and you're good. His American Horror Lit class was my favorite. It had the best movies! Make sure to play attention when he talks about the exams: he'll tell you what to study. Done in blue book.

Best English prof at GCC hands down! You must take him if you're an English major. He's hard on his papers and exams but you should be ok if you attend class. He's really into what he does and he really gets into the tiniest detail. Some of his ideas and analysis are complete bs and unbelievable, but all that does is teach you to be open and creative.

Dr. Gross is very elegant, its almost as if your in the movie the Birdcage. Anyway he is highly cultured and intelligent something i respect in a professor. Makes class interesting. Class seems centered around and he grades papers in an insulting manner, something i didn't care for much. Your experience may differ.

I left GCC after the spring semester of 2009. I miss the school, and perhaps the thing that I miss the most is Dr. Gross. For anyone who LOVES to read and write (especially horror literature) take him. If you hate reading and writing, look elsewhere. College just isn't the same without him though. Wish he was at Stockton! Dr. Gross forever!

Dr. Gross is an amazing teacher. I must say I thought I could not write when I entered his room;however, I did very well with the 3 essays. Final is pretty easy, just make sure you take notes. Quizzes are easy just as long as you read the books. There are 12 quizzes but they are only 5 question long. He is good at what he does!!! loved the class.

Gross is an AMAZING teacher. He is insightful and extremely intelligent. However, he is rather difficult and goes a little bit quiz crazy (we had one every class.) But he was a joy to work with.

NONE WRITERS BE WARNED! If you don't like writing, don't take his class. As for me, a student of writing, I couldn't have found a better professor. His horror literature class was the highlihgt of my day! The guy really knows his craft and helped my writing and understanding of story telling tremendously! For that, my thanks go out to him!

Took his Survey of World Lit. class. Dr. Gross is an amazing teacher and nice guy, and above all he's brilliant, enlightening and insightful! Material is extremely interesting, and he is a very fair grader. Just read/study the material, hand in papers on time (with some effort), go to class, and you'll do fine! You'll surely learn something!

The rudest prof I have ever encountered.Berated students in front of the entire class. He made me dislike English/ literature and completely lose my confidence to the point where I left the school. Do not take him esp if you are not an English major!!I have transferred schools and I am trying to get back my decent grades.

Dr. Gross is a fantastic professor! He really knows his stuff! This was my last semester at GCC and I feel as though he prepared me for the more difficult courses to come. His class is very interesting! There is some essay writing and it can be a bit difficult, but if you follow directions and really put some effort into it, you will be fine!

He was hysterical. But more importantly, he was extremely intelligent and if you take this class, you'll be sure to learn a lot of interesting stuff. You will have to work pretty hard, but it's not unreasonable. What you will learn in this class is worth the effort.
