Comment:
His grading is confusing and not good several of our big assignments barely affected my grade, the small 10 point assignments affect your grade wayyy more, his classes are hard to stay focused in I almost fall asleep during all of his lectures, his assignments never make sense and when you ask for help he doesnt help you. Do not take his class!!!

This class was very enjoyable, but get ready to learn how to decode basically the entire horror genre and all of the films by the end of the semester. Its a hard class if you arent a humanities major, but its doable if you put in the work. The tests are all online and he is easy to reach outside of class, but be prepared for 2 movies a week.

One of the coolest professors at UK. His MCL343 class is always in very high demand because it is such an enjoyable class. If you can get a spot in it, and need it for your core requirements, take it!!

Rogers was SUCH a great prof to have! He was so nice and laid back. I was honestly excited to attend his lectures because they're always interesting and fun. The books weren't hard to understand, just have to skim a bit, and papers weren't bad. Definitely watch the movies though, just sparknoting it isn't good enough.

Professor Rogers is a cool guy, and that is not an understatement. I took him for a Global Horror class and the class was a true joy. However, there are lots of homework such as film reviews and reading responses, and his tests are just papers, no final. He is laidback and approachable. You get to watch horror movies for credit. Take this class

I've taken three of his courses and will be in a fourth this upcoming semester. My favorite teach on UK's campus. Easy to talk to outside of class, super knowledgeable, and never condescending even when talking about something he is insanely passionate about, which is the film course. Great guy would recommend.

Professor Rogers is amazing! He will look over any paper you have to turn into him before it is due and give you feedback. As long as you keep up on homework and show up, you will easily pass the class.

Very interesting class! Don't take it unless you're willing to watch a lot of films (once a week, totaling 12 films) He's kinda a hard grader, especially with sequence analysis. ADVISE: go to his office hours and ask for him (or his TA) to review your work before you turn it in. Whenever I've done this, I've gotten an A on every assignment.

If you are interested in international film, he is the professor to take. He displays both key factors to understanding the subject: the cultural context in which the films were made and the technical filmic language needed to interpret them. He is engaging and knowledgeable of the content without being pretentious and pejorative towards students.

I've taken two classes with Rogers (352 and 361) and I think he is an amazing professor. He lets you know what you should take from the class & he's clear about what he wants from assigned work. He keeps it interesting and has a respectable sense of humor. He can also change the way you view films for the rest of your life.

I was interested in the class at first, and fell in love after. This was my favorite class, I wish I could take another. Easy class, books are pretty interesting, and easy to read, the films are fun, and he gets into the symbolism of everything, makes you think differently about it. Highly reccommended.
