Mr. Michelena is a nice man but it doesn't seem like he gives you enough time to finish up the homework and he jams you up with a lot of homework. If you're taking this math class online he doesn't let you do any make up work or let you turn in any late work, when I asked him if I could make up any of the homework he just says to push through.

I have always disliked math but he made finite mathematics just click for me. For an online class, his lectures were really great and I felt like I was in a classroom.

Math is hard for me and I had to work by butt off to get an A but Professor Michelena is caring and really wants you to succeed. His videos are very clear and thorough and if you tell him you are struggling he really does have empathy and is willing to help you. He's a great instructor and truly a nice man.

Professor Michelena, Is a nice professor, however, the hybrid class is super hard to follow. It is hard to understand all the methods, and tests are pretty hard as well. He is pretty nice replying emails, though. But take him in person and not online.

Michelena was such a great teacher. I hadn't taken a math class in 3 years and I still was able to understand clearly and quickly. Easy material, not hard to get the hang of, especially with Michelena's help. Very caring, wants you to succeed. I want to take him for every math class ever.

Great professor is very passionate about math and know how to teach so that you understand even the toughest problems. test are easy and usually no more then 15 questions. the final was also very easy. if you pay attention and do the homework this class is an easy A.

Online HW gives answers graded immediately and correct answers if wrong. 3 tries/problem, and you can click to see an example or have it walked with you step by step. He only teaches the simple format of domain and range, which means you must learn the other way via mymathlab through examples. Can't skip learning the other way (will be on quizzes).

Professor Michelena is one of the best teachers I have had. He really cares about his students and takes time to help out if you need extra help. I loved how he recorded his lectures so you could always go back and review them if needed. He taught everything really thorough and overall was just an amazing teacher. I definitely recommend him!

Great teacher. He really makes learning each subject easy. He even records the lectures and posts them so that if you missed something you can go back and review the lecture. He's also really funny, and understanding when someone is struggling. Wish all teachers made it this easy to learn. Probably will get an A.

Very good teacher. Professor Michelena really does care about his students and their success. He's understanding and understands that students have other classes as well, which is nice. This class moves fast, so making sure to stay on top of homework and lectures is important. I would definitely recommend taking him.

Very good teacher. He was engaged in his student's questions, punctual, and funny without being unprofessional. He explained the lecture content as best as he could if he sensed any confusion. The many weeks i had him he was never impatient or unwilling to help his students out. I took him for math 89 and 101 and always looked forward to the class

Jim was awesome. I've taken him twice for Math121(got a C) and again for Math171(got a B). If you've got a mind for logic you will love his clear cut teaching style. It really sinks into your head. I transferred to Merced and am getting an A in Calc 2 because of a strong start. One of the best professors I've ever taken a class with, best for Math.

Mr. Michelena is good teacher. He wants his class to pass; pushed back a lot of due dates. The homework problems are difficult, but not on the test. What he teaches in class doesn't really help with all the homework, but it does with the tests. Pretty easy. Nice guy.

One of the Best Math instructors hands down! He is very clear about his teaching and explains everything in such a simple way that any one can understand. His tests are easy if as long as you pay attention and do the homework. If I could have I would have taken all my math classes with him.

Prof. Michelena is a great guy! He assigns homework on My Math Lab and there are 4 tests throughout the semester. Study and pay attention in class and you will do fine.
