Dr. Haefner takes attendance almost every class. And there are in class assignments that account for a good portion of your final grade. My class was writing intensive and there were 5 papers of about 4-5 each. But, Haefner allows students to revise first drafts to get a better grade. He really cares about a students grade.

I really don't like writing all that much but this gateway wasn't too bad. He offered a lot of help but you have to seek it. He's not going to seek you out(aside from two mandatory appointments). And he likes if you are making the effort. Writing center is key! He can be a little boring sometimes but you can tell he tries his best not to be.

Dr. Haefner is really laid back and helpful when you have questions. The assignments are also easy. You can get a B on all the exams and still get an A in the class because you're almost guaranteed 100% on the homework and programs. He does move really fast through lectures though, which makes things confusing. Overall, pretty okay teacher.

haefner is a chill teacher but NOT fun. he gives good feedback on your papers but even after my rough drafts, my grades never improved. he gives out ALOT of busy work and held too high expectations for a Gen Ed class. bascially a waste of time.

Haefner is a really nice guy. I hated the class, but not because of him; I just don't like computer science at all (don't you love Gen Eds!). He offered a lot of extra credit to help people out (ex: 70 points extra credit on a project that was out of 50). Ask him for help too. Good guy. You'll have to do a lot of self-teaching though.

Doesn't know really what he is talking about much of the time. He makes powerpoints for class but usually has to take time out of class to figure out his own mistakes. HW is easy but tests are hard. You can get through the class without knowing much about programming and just reading the more meaningless stuff in the book. Doesn't respond to email.

Intro to Computer Science was the worst class I have ever taken. I learned absolutely nothing. Class was insanely boring and he didn't even know what he was telling us most of the time. The only way to get by in this class is to get help from the TA's or work on projects with other students. However, I would still rather take this as my gen ed.

He was confusing during class. He would get confused on exactly what he was doing which made me lose faith in him as a teacher. Most of what he taught was wrong and I would have to go to the TA to learn how to do it right. Nice guy, horrible professor.

Very nice man, but the class is pretty boring. Look around and you'll see everyone on Facebook or something. A good class if you hate math and need a Gen Ed. Be careful of projects - use the TA! - cause he tends to tell the wrong solutions for the project in class. Have patience but an overall ok class.

He's the nicest guy ever. basically if u try to answer a ? in class he's happy. I feel bad for him cause no one understands the material, but he does give pretty big curves. if you have to take a formal reasoning credit you mine as well take this. he's boring but a good guy.

class was horrible, he coudn't control the classroom. His grading was ridiculous... It was the most pointless class I took at IWU, and in no way helped my writing, researching abilities.

He's terrible. He confuses himself during class and in the middle of lectures, then changes what he's teaching. He doesn't really take any time to really go through more complicated issues, and needs to just get through the material, even when the entire class has their hands up and are confused.
