Comment:
John Galt is the most underrated professor at Skidmore College. Do the work, show up, and go home. That's literally all he asks. If you want his attention, go to him. Don't just wait for him to come to you. He's so intelligent and artistic. He also makes a good pound cake and brings it for crits.

A student made an artwork about ED and he could never stop talking about it. Take that as you will.

John is awesome as a person, not necessarily as an art professor. He never attended class so getting feedback from him was almost impossible. His office hours were not helpful/at a bad time. Basically look like you're interested in his class and you'll get a good grade. Otherwise, he's a cool guy in general.

John's a really nice guy and he talks a lot but if you really listen to what he's saying you see how cool he really is. John's super respectable as a teacher and a man, and he really knows art. John's passionate and enthusiastic and all together the best professor I've had at Skidmore so far.

Galt explains the project and then lets students loose to get it done. He is not always available to help, but if you use the resources available in the art building and follow instructions, you will succeed. He acknowledges that he speaks in a monotone, so his explanations and critiques can get tedious. He does let you take breaks though.

So he drives 2 hours to work everyday so you should be there. But, he always forgot to take attendance though. He would run out during class to go shopping or whatnot. He told me that he only gave out Cs so you have to live in the studio if you want a good grade. But, I got a B with just regular effort. He's nice to talk to but doesn't really teach.

He means well but is very opinionated. If he likes you/your work, you'll get a great grade, whether or not you go to class or show much interest. If he doesn't like you, well you can count on a B if you make an effort and go to class regularly. Very talkative and loves telling stories as well. Nice guy but very subjective grader!

Tried to teach that art and sculpture have a technical side (which some people see to loose sight of once they deemed themselves "artists") He is so helpful and makes you feel like you are learning something. Deff. have to be openminded because at heart he is an artist as well. Great guy

I took form and space with Galt. He was never there. The class was a joke. He did not teach the class. I did not get a grade until the grade on my report card.

John will help you immensely if you show that you are putting in a lot of effort. Will come in early/stay late with you if you ask him to. If you don't come to class he'll ignore you. Gets sidetracked easily. Is more into the technical side of sculpture.

John is a really interesting guy, loves to talk, but is sometimes really frustrating. He doesn't give a lot of work, which usually if fine by me, but he gives NO WORK. We had one assignment that required work outside of class, and most days you could leave an hour or two early because you had nothing to do.

John Galt is the most helpful professor in the skidmore sculpture department. He goes above and beyond the duty of a professor and will stay in the studio to 3am before a crit if you need help. He is laidback, easy to talk to and funny.

A really cool casual guy. Deadlines don't really mean much, and loves to sit down and talk. However, if you're not a competent sculptur, you may want to consider Cunningham or another for best instruction.

Interesting person, not a great professor. He's much more interested in the technical side of sculpture than the art side. Funny, though, and fun to talk to.

It'd be nice if he would actually teach his subject every once in a while instead of preaching about politics like an egomaniacal radio talk show host for half of the class, and then speaking to one person in length, or just vanishing, for the remainder.
