Comment:
Dr. Gonas is a good guy but his class is so hard. Finance in general is hard, but Gonas doesn't explain things well or just shouts at you the whole class. He is the better of most of the other profs for this course but be prepared to work really hard and teach yourself 95% of the material.

Comment:
Professor Gonas yells at the class and expects everyone to know what he's talking about before class starts. You MUST read the book to get a decent grade in this class. Good luck trying to take notes or ask questions because he flies through everything and doesn't explain things very well. The constant yelling makes it very hard to pay attention.

If you have anxiety, this class will break you fast. I had to sit in the front (due to no other seating options when I came in) and got picked on twice by the teacher on the first day. He yells the content and acts like a football coach. People in my class are too scared to ask questions and he rushes through the content.

Dr. Gonas was a wonderful professor. He went on small tangents but I believe it was to provide humor and keep attention of his students- which I enjoyed. He was very accessible outside of class and makes sure you not only understand how to get the answer, but also understand the answer. You have to work for it but it's doable!

Dr. Gonas knows his material. Getting it out of his head and into yours can be tough. I often had no idea what he was referencing and he'll jump around on the computer during lectures. He's an excellent speaker and provides an interesting lecture.

I would not take Gonas again, as he goes entirely too fast for students to even grasp what he is saying. I'm in Honors, so I'm used to difficult curriculum, but the combination of his poor teaching and the subject matter really took the cake for worst class ever. He does not convey any of the material clearly, and expects you to memorize it all.

One of the best professors I've ever had. I took this course during the summer semester so it was extremely difficult, but Mr. Gonas made the material as digestible as possible. He also made it as entertaining as possible with relevant stories. Really engages with the students and makes sure you're paying attention; he really wants you to learn.

Dr. Gonas is the best professor I've ever had. He makes a horribly dull subject somewhat interesting, and is very clear with his instruction, while also being consistently hilarious and relatable. It's a very hard class, but if you have to take it, Dr. Gonas is the only guy you should take.

Hardest class I've ever taken, but best finance professor at belmont. I flat out failed every test but ended the class with a B- although I couldn't tell you a single thing I learned. Really wants you to succeed. Entertaining, but really hard to follow. Definitely do every extra credit assignment that's offered. Don't skip class, you'll be so lost.

He's a cool guy, but a terrible professor. Flighty, consistently late, would hardly respond to emails or help students. I asked for help multiple times and never got it. I know he's busy, but if he can't handle the amount of students he's teaching he should teach fewer classes. Sure he's funny, but that doesn't make a good professor.

The only professor you should take for Finance at Belmont. Energetic and entertaining, and makes the class tolerable. He's there for you if you need help, but be aware that his tests are tough, and that it is a lot of work.

If you want more than just another generic business course, take Dr. Gonas. This man is hilarious and has a heart of gold! Speak-up in class, be brave, and he will know your name before no time. He's also a great connection to have in the Nashville business world. Take him!

He is a very energetic teacher for a very boring and information heavy course. Definitely recommend him for taking business finance, much easier to pay attention when you have a professor who is entertaining. Tests are hard, must read and must attend class to pass them. Not many grades other than tests. If you take notes you'll pass.

Dr. Gonas made a terribly boring subject at least tolerable. I would have hated Finance with any other professor, however, I probably wouldn't have had to work as hard at finance if I were in another professors class. His tests are brutal while I've heard stories of other finance profs giving open book tests. If you're interested in FIN, take him

Hands down the best finance professor at Belmont. Extremely funny and very knowledgeable about his field. Very well connected and helped me land an internship with Morgan Stanley.

Dr. Gonas is by far my favorite professor at Belmont. He loves what he does and is SO willing to help his students succeed. It's a super tough class, but worth it. Move anything around in your schedule to take him. I promise you won't regret it. He makes a tough subject fun.

I'm not done with the class yet, but he just gave me an extension on a test that I really needed, so I felt compelled to tell everyone how awesome he is. He is SO AWESOME. The class is kinda hard and he moves kinda fast, but just do the homework & you'll be good. Not that I'd know. Anyways, if you get the chance to take a class with Gonas, take it.
