Comment:

One of the best professors I had at UAH. I was a science major, but this was one of the most enjoyable classes, and it was due to the professor. He's also on the History Channel occasionally.

I had the fortune, many moons ago, to have had this professor in my History 101 class for a couple of weeks because my teacher broke her leg. His presence was my favorite part of the course. He is a great story-teller and his story of history will pull you in. He's also one of those men that get more attractive the longer they speak.

Dr. Severn has been called "The Best Lecturer on Campus". I can believe it. His passion for history spills over into his classes and each day is like story time for adults. READ, READ, READ! He grades a little on the lenient side, but make sure you read! You will not pull one over on him.

Comment:

Severn's one of the icons in the university's strongest department. He has an enormous amount of passion for history which rubs off on his students. His lectures are often more compelling then the source material they come from. I took every course he taught, some only because he was teaching them.

Incredible lecturer! First day, he tells us that we don't need to remember a single date because numbers aren't history; people and events are. I learned so much about the cause and effect of western civ and really enjoyed going to class.

I so enjoyed Dr. Severn's class that I felt like I was having "storytime" when I went to class. Take his class! He is not "easy," but he's there to help you succeed. Get to know him--he is very personable and pleasant. His tests were from his lectures, so take good notes and study them WELL! I highly recommend him.

i took dr. severn because i was told he was "THE best professor at UAH." this is not because the class is easy. i am sure he is a great teacher for those very enthused about history, but i found his class to be SO hard. be prepared.

Excellent teacher, fun class and passionate about what he teaches. He is not the easiest and I had to work a reasonable amount to get an A, but he will always give you what you deserve. Work hard, take good notes and read the books carefully.

I had Dr. S for several history classes and this is an awesome teacher! He makes the lectures interesting and he has traveled to most of the areas he teachers about. He was honored in France for his contributions to French culture and is just a great teacher!
