He is accessible outside class and a good advisor to talk to, but he is a bit hard-grader. He requires lots of details in the answers for exams.

Jon is a geat prof who sincerely cares about raising awareness about inequality and the economic ramifications of injustice. Classes are very difficult and you will work hard many hours per week. This is a good thing!

He is a great professor! Somewhat difficult because he will push you to succeed, but he won't ask you to do anything that you can't. Always willing to help, & when asked he'll help you discover the answer, instead of giving it to you. Does not push personal beliefs onto students but will entertain your questions in private. Intelligent & inciteful!

I took SIX (6) classes with Jonathan! I recommend him highly. Expect a lot of reading, difficult tests, and challenging papers. His classes are work-intensive, so you must really give effort to get an A. He is extremely knowledgeable, approachable, and fair, and he is skilled at moderating discussions. Take advantage of his office hours.

The PAGS element of ECON 101 makes the class really frustrating because I took the class to get a better grasp of the basics of macroeconomics, not to hear people rant about the social ramifications of capitalism.
