She was a little daunting at first, with her passion for literature, but once you get into the class, she is a really good professor. Even though she literally runs around the room, she is clear in her direction/expectations. There was no midterm, but we did have a lot of major writing assignments (which were totally doable) and obviously a final.

She's horrible and boring. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER!! She expects you to write like you're majoring in english. yeah, she does give you extentions on papers if you need it but she's a HARD grader so it really doesnt matter anyway. if you have to take english 161, take it with somebody else if you dont plan on majoring in english

Very nice lady. Expects you to keep up with the reading. Gives a pop quiz about the book almost every other class so come prepared. Class is very easy. Just pay attention. She tells you what will be on any test, make sure you take notes and listen to her.

Attendance is mandatory so show up and listen to what she says. She's crystal clear. I got bonus points on everything...it's not hard at all. She has a genuine interest in the subject and it shows. Don't use Spark Notes...a bunch of people from my class got caught and were considered to participate in cheating because of it.

Great! If you show up, do the homework, and listen you'll do fine. Always tells you what she wants. Very clear. Very excited about her work and really knows her stuff! Gives you all the answers to homework, tests and essay during the classes, just pay close attention!

Very pasionate about the subject, but know her stuff. she is really helpful and not that hard as a grader. be prepare to read a lot trought the semeter. and expect a quiz every class. 3 papers and a final. but above all the class in very intesting and and she is really good professor

Sweet lady. She knows her stuff and is pretty flexible. Read the books, participate, write good papers. If you do that you're golden; she wants to see effort and see if you actually understand, which is fair enough.

Those that said she sucked didn't care about this class and didn't do the work for it. (and didn't know how to write a basic paper) She knows the material like the back of her hand. If you want an A it's easy, read the books before class discussion, participate in class when she asks questions, and take the time to write a decent paper.

Professor Howe is a very sweet woman. She quizzes you every day on the readings, so make sure you read the texts beforehand. I read them all on Spark Notes and passed all of the quizzes. Just make sure you show up and participate and she'll love you. Pretty decent class.

Oh my god... thats all I have to say. Drink strong coffee before entering her class. I'm sometimes afraid she's going to have a heart attack. Very, very into western lit. She is a very sweet woman though and she means well but very boring.

She can overreact sometimes and her absence policies are ridiculous, but I must say that she did make me a better writer. I like very much how we got to peer edit in class. I also liked her method of conferencing with each one of us about our final paper. The one on one help did me a lot of good.

I took her class once and failed it. It just to happened I got her again because she was the "staff" teacher. I actually went to class and participated. She is believe it or not a fairly easy grader. She tells you EXACTLY what you need to do to do well in her class. Second time around I got an A+. Truly a good teacher, not easy, but very good
