Comment:

I've 90+ cr. hours from 4 univ. in 4 states, so I've had my share of professors. I rate Ranner in the top 5. A class doesn't have to be difficult to teach a subject well. She taught her subject well & it seemed fairly effortless. She has a unique and infectious manner of lecturing that I thoroughly enjoyed. I recommend her with all confidence.

Comment:

Took her Classical Greece class. Pretty easy though you should be interested in the subject. She's a great lecturer, she makes even a dull history topic more interesting by adding little funny facts. She does require some writing (take home essay exams) and class participation.

Comment:

Knows what she's talking about and is passionate about it. If you know how to write decently well then you will do fine with her. She does not assign very much work and she is the ONLY lecture teacher that I can stay awake for, even with a night time class. Fully educational experience.

Gets very into her lectures; animated and fun to watch. Definitely made history class less painful. Take advantage of the opportunity to plan your exam essays ahead of time; you will need time to think them through.

I love her lectures! Her classes are fun and entertaining. She grades pretty hard though. She gives you time to prepare your exam essays and lets you send them to her to check them. If you dont prepare the essays expect a C.

LOVED her. She's very enthused about what she teaches. She makes funny voices and hand motions to describe things, which, helped me remember info for the quizzes. Gave us 3 midterm essay questions to prepare for, chose one for the actual test. It helped to study the notes for the weekly quizzes alongside the text. Those with As=exempt from final

Prof. Ranner was a bad teacher in my opinion, she was absent for our midterm because she wanted to go see the president speak at UNO. Very hard to understand she did not describe material well she simply wrote on the board and spoke to students DID NOT TEACH!

Overall, a good teacher. The stream of notes help because you have a lot to study and a the info is very detailed. Knows her stuff and will work with you if you miss a day. Does grade a little on the hard side. Overall, a good teacher, just study a lot.

VERY good teacher! She makes the material interesting and is extremely knowledgeable. I actually looked forward to her class. As long as you pay attention, take notes, and review the morning of, the weekly quizes are a breeze.

She's certainly not an "Easy A" but she's fantastic. She's incredibly knowledgeable in her subjects, take notes!!! if you take notes and review them, you will do well on the weekly quizzes. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. if you want a good class with a good teacher, take her.

Her class is challenging. She lectures very fast so listen closely and write fast. Go to every class too. She is a nice grader though b/c I managed to fail every single one of her ridiculus quizzes and still got a B...and I never spoke to her outside of class.

Person below, don't be bitter just because you didn't get an A. She is fair. I didn't get an A and she is my favorite professor and I DO talk to her outside of class. She is an amazing lecturer. If you are of above-average intelligence and willing to be challenged and learn and become a better thinker and writer, take her.

Keep your guard up and go to every class. This lady's class is very challenging and she plays favorites. You will NOT get an A if you do not develop a relationship outside of class with her. I will NEVER take another class with her. Her lectures are interesting, but not worth a lower GPA.

She is just so awesome: brilliant, funny, sweet, happy, beautiful, cultivated, cosmopolitan...I am going to take her class every semester until I graduate.
